Hi,

I've read a lot of your stories in this forum, and I am really impresse by these and I would love to participate, but one thing makes me falter; I don't have english as my native language and I'm therefore having trouble with keeping my stories on an acceptable level when it comes to details and such things.

So, I'm wondering if there are any others out there with the same problem that can share their thoughts and ideas of how to make a good story even though you are not the best person in the world to master the english language.

I've tried to write them in my own language first and then translate the whole story with a dictionary before me but that way of doing it isn't really good.

Any ideas of how to tackle this problem would be very appreciated!

Cheers!

From you're post there I would say you're grasp of the English language is good enough to participate in RPGs like this, thats just my opinion having read other peoples stories (I don't actively participate in RP because I suck!).

Do not worry at all: Just look at others' examples (including mine): Actually, there are quite a few American or British peoples on this site. Most of the participants use English as a second language.

And, as it apperas to me, you are not inferior to us by any means: this means you are welcome in any story (however, they may have a different policy: some RPGs are not to be entered 'in medias res', only after previous consulting).

And finally, do not worry, if you cannot write something of epic heights, or two pages worth. Shorter paragraphs, with simplified style would do it as well. You should be aware of the writing errors ('typos') you make, however, and correct them as soon as possible. Happy RPG henceforth !!!

I don't really post here in this particular channel.. I LOVE to write stories and stuff, but I guess Im just a bit nervous about posting them...

BUT, one thing I can tell you is that your message above was very well written, and if you can do that I feel very positive that you can also do that with your stories... And if you make a mistake, or even a few mistakes?? No big deal, everyone makes mistakes :) Heck, english is my primary (and ONLY) language and I habitually mangle it :)

now, it's been a while since i've been here. i've participated in some stories and maybe made a lot of mistakes, but never got any complaints about it. Now my base language is Dutch, my second language is French and as a plus, i study english. but i don't think you noticed. people write with lots of errors, wether they are British, American, German, French or any other nationality, even in their own language. don't feel bad if you type an error or three, there are lots of people here who do the same
