Reviving an old thread here, that seems to have been deleted in the recent forum assault. Can't find it anyhow.

Anyhow, Monitors in widescreen format that were suggested for use with WoW:

NEC, Dell and Belinea. (all about 20"). I tried to check monitors out at local dealers, some had tempting offers of 23" monitors for under 800 Euros, but it turned out those only had a resolution of 1300 x 800 or such. (still not looking too bad.)

In the end, I purchased a Dell 2005 FW, as it was on offer for 460 Euro and that included shipping. Haven't regretted it. Absolutely ace, nice screen, nice colors, nice and bright display (a clear improvement on the first 17" TfT I bought 16 months ago).

Minor gripe: Under WoW I get a white or black frame flashing for something like 1/25 of a second every 5 minutes. Must be something of the monitor or game catching up with each other (never happens under windows when using Word or Photoshop) and though both the game and windows run at 60 Hertz and V-sync is enabled (or disabled, doesn't matter) I cannot get rid of it. Anybody who has experienced this as well? Or an idea what it "could" be?

Pictures to drool:

Nice. So what resolution is it now finally and have you noticed any advantages in the game (PvP etc.) due to the greater field of vision?

Resolution is 1680 : 1050, which is the native resolution of the monitor. P 4 with 3.2 Ghz and 1 GB Ram, GeForce 6800 (16 months old) handles it without problems, I still get constant 50 fps.

My PvP days are pretty much over...so the advantage is mainly the epic scope of the game..well..feels epic...or rather cinematic :)

Been browsing a bit on the Dell site and in conjunction with WoW the flashing came up in one topic, but without any replies. Lazy as I am I haven't updated any drivers since I bought the PC...so that might be related.
