***Notice of Account Closure***

Greetings,

Access to the World of Warcraft account *censored*, and all World of Warcraft accounts
associated with the payment information you have provided, has been permanently disabled. The
account was created circumventing the valid account creation procedure, violating the World of Warcraft
Terms of Use.

It is implicitly stated on the account creation page that: This account creation process is only available to
customers in North America, New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. When this account was created,
the standard, valid, creation method was circumvented, thus invalidating the account and subjecting it to
closure.

As a result, the account(s) will no longer be accessible in any way and will not be reopened under any
circumstances. Thank you for your time and understanding in this matter.

Regards,

Account Administration

well the only thing i can think of is my friend who saw me type in my password. went home and logged into my guy and took all my gold. but other than that no. i went to a party and when i came home the next day i had that weird e-mail. that isn't clear. i dont understand what exactly circumventing the character creation is... or even how its done

Whoa, if you have that kind of a 'friend', then I'm not wondering that this happened.

Main thrust of the e-mail is that you're apparently not from the aforementioned nations and thus shouldn't be on the US Servers, which is rather odd, considering there is also a disclaimer in the ToS, which states that folks from say Europe can log into the US Servers, just shouldn't expect any timely help from either GM or account teams due to differing time zones.

Side note, as the forum rules here specify, try to keep messages ine one relevant forum, just saw your post in the tech section, where you state you are a legal US citizen.

Anyway, might want to ring them up as to what the exact issue is then.

Holy.. The Blizzard employes are getting trigger happy.. My account was also banned a few days ago  I think their account stuff is ****ed up.. I got banned due to that my account was a "Suspected Compromised Account".. However, I feel that they SHOULD take back their ban if you call them... And supply information which proves that you ARE living and playing on the U.S... Otherwise, it might be that U.S. ain't considered as part of North America, which might be the reason. It seems odd, but, after all, being logic ain't one of the main attributes Blizzard

hmm weird that they ban you for that.
I played in Europe and entered my address(Australia) and didn't get anything like that. Likewise my mate from Scotland who played on US servers with me. He hasn't got an email either.

Where did you buy the game box and did you use your own credit card to set up the account?

If you bought a used box or just got a game key number from somewhere, that could be the issue.

got the game box from Fred Meyer's and the game cards from Best Buy. calling them now so wel see how it goes. and btw who ever said i need to stay in skool... lol i spell it like that because its easier... idk why

EDIT: wow guess what... WoW doesn't have phone support concerning this kind of situation. they just have tech support. guess ill have to wait for their reply e-mail. /sigh

Hmm, I hope this gets cleared up for you one way or another.

Has anyone else noticed that whenever we get this type of thread there's always a "I don't remember doing anything unusual... oh apart from giving my password to someone else". By the terms of the EULA, you can be banned for doing just that.

Then you should learn to type in a method that doesnt allow for the average person to guess / figure it out just by watching it being typed. It should be fast and complicated, like a good magic trick.

Like my 13 character long password that has absolutely no relation to my personal stuff. And I typed it so fast none of my friends who even saw me type could figure out what was my password. And they couldn't guess it either.

Wow. You should also have told Blizz that your "friend" stole your password and gold, because (1) they have a right to know as soon as an account is compromised, and can ban you simply for not telling them that; and (2) they might have given you your gold back if you did, and banned the friend based on the character he mailed your gold to.

They probably think you're a gold seller based on that suspicious transaction, and just sent out the wrong standard ban email...

Good luck sorting it out.

"my friend who saw me type in my password." i dint give him my password.

In Blizzard's eyes, there's no difference. You allowed (either on purpose or by negligence) someone to obtain your login details. You knew that they had been used by that person to log into your account, but you didn't tell Blizzard that this had happened. I'm not trying to be vindictive and I do hope you can continue playing, but be prepared for the worst.

Still, that's not the reason he was banned, as clearly stated in the mail from Blizzard. Hence, doesn't matter.

*sigh* ya im pretty sure he has nothing to do with this NEway, still no response from blizzard. though i did get a response about a tech question i submited a while back.

Unfortunately I have noticed this account has been closed. Please accept my apologies but since logging on to the forums requires an active account I cannot troubleshoot the issue further. Thank you for your understanding.
