I have Fishing/Cooking and First Aid on my warrior, this is a question to all non-healing classes cause Im a little curious, do you eat food or bandage yourself to heal during downtime?

Depends.
If I need to heal very quickly/am targeted and with an incoming enemy on myself, I bandage. I f I have some time to "rest"/the place is now cleaned enough to do that, I eat food.

Both. The big difference is that you can bandage when you are "in combat". For instance, a mage can bandage themself while an attacker is sheeped. They cannot eat during this time. WHen out of combat, however, eating will generally give you more health and will save those bandages for when they are needed in combat.

Looking at the thread topic, all I could think was "man, your parties must suck".
I use bandages, it's cheaper... when you're grinding stuff that almost every mob drops 2X Runecloth, it accumulates pretty fast, so therefore, it's free! And being a hunter, I very rarely get hit, my cat takes the blunt of the attacks, so I /cast healpet so my downtime it simply drinking a bit and collecting bandages for when I need them (soloing instances, FD/FT/Bandage). I keep about a stack of 10 pies in my bag, cuz I like pie!

Not neccessarily, the OP could be out solo grinding.

Both. Why limit yourself to one or the other? If I'm grinding mobs and food drops, I'll much on that to clear bag space and save some bandages for later.
Neither :\ I prefer to just let time heal me. I actually sell every single bandage I make, and I only eat food to get the +stamina bonuses.
You can make a lot of money selling bandages and foods.

You can? Well food perhaps, but to use bandages you need the same first aid skill as to make them, don't you? So what's the advantage in somebody buying the bandages rather than the cloth?
Of course, if you want to sell the cloth then yes, there is plenty of money in it. ALways somebody buying up runecloth for rep gains.
You sell them to a vendor. I rarely use the auction hall unless it's for something I know I can sell. I don't like to waste my time.

Actually you need 290 or so if I remember to CREATE heavy runecloth bandages... but only need 230 or so to USE them.

I'll eat when I have a DOT (e.g. poison) on me, otherwise I'll bandage. If you bandage with a DOT, you'll stop as soon as you take damage. Very annoying.

SUrely if you have a DoT on you you'll be in combat, and thus not able to eat? Or am I missing something?
After combat perhaps?
I don't know - but I assumed he meant that after combat you go out of combat mode, even if you have a "DoT" on... in which case you can eat and heal.

Some mobs (the scorpids and spiders in Silithus come to mind immediately) hit you with poison which can stick around for quite a while after you kill them. Thus, bandages are wasted and food is the only way to regen health.

Eat.
I'm saving all my runecloth for reputation with the longears. I want a riding cat.
In fact my character has First Aid skill at rank 300 and has never made a single Runecloth Bandage in his life. I got the ability to make Runecloth Bandages at level 35, it was about 5 levels before I even saw a piece of Runecloth!
Cheers
