Fishping

No idea if it had been posted already, a search didn't come up with anything...

I am a lazy fisherperson, meaning that when I am fishing I tend to fall asleep. I installed Fishping. What it does is making a sound (you can choose from soft to annoyingly loud) when you catsh something.
Very helpful little tool.

Particularly when fishing in the sea versus inland. The wind really drowns out the bobber splash.

I'll look into this add, it sounds like a good idea.

It didn't work when I tried it.

When I fish, i enter the sound options and turn off "Ambient" sounds, and music too, then turn the sound up. That way the only sound is the bobber.

i thought addons like this are against the rules.Only if it reels in the fish for you. A new sound marker should be of no consequence.

Itd be the same as overwriting the sound file for catchfish if there was one.

I installed it (it is just a wav placed in a certain subdir under ./data) and it worked fine. Just note you have to close the WoW app and restart before it takes effect.

Its nice, IMHO, and worth the install.

Personally I just turn off ambient sounds and music when Im fishing. Actually when Im fishing I usually dont look at the monitor at all and watch TV just going by sound.

download fishing buddy than, gives u a button than turnes off all sound exept the spash and with 1 button equip all your fishing equipment..

Ah, I was wondering already why my music stopped when I equipped a fishing pole. Thanks Robba, you solved a mystery that lasts for a few months now!

Shining Death, we are talking about this one (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=1095). Highly recommended if you plan to make something of your character's fishing skill.

Noticed last night that fishping will trigger on another player's bobber splash as well if they are fishing next to you. That is too bad as this is one of the things I was hoping fishping could me with. Steamwheedle pier in particular can get pretty crowded with fisherman sometimes.

It hasn't worked since 1.11, even when I downloaded anew and re-installed. Anyone else having this problem?

I use tacklebox from cosmos... is fishingbuddy worth installing and disabling tacklebox?

Also is there something which will tell you if you have a fish after the splash? I guess fishping will help, but what if you were talking and missed it? A bobber with a fish or without a fish looks the same after the spash.

If it overwrite a file (to mod texture, skin, model), then since 1.11 it illegal to use those addon, the client also verify the integrity of original files.
