View Full Version : Unarmed Combat
Is Unarmed Combat effective?
If they were to make a Monk class then I'd see it as effective... but really... has ANYONE made it to 300/300 unarmed?
If so, grace us with your knowledge!

I would imagine most melee classes have maxed, or at least quite high unarmed. On my first char, a paladin that I only played to 50 or so before changing classes, mine would slowly but surely level up whenever I fought humanoids that disarm, of which there are quite a few of.
As far as the usefulness of it, the damage never seems to become significant, but I suppose a very small ammount of damage still being done when you are waiting for the disarm debuff to go away would be slightly useful, but not hugely.
That said, I think a monk class, that actually specialized in unarmed damage, and possably fist weapons as well, would be absolutely awesome. I'm a big fan of monks in D&D, and would roll a monk toon in a heartbeat.

if you use claw type weapons it uses your unarmed skill rating

Despite numerous Disarms, I can't say I've taken it to 300.
But since the majority of your damage comes from your weapon, or spells if you're a caster, I believe the intended purpose is as a 'last resort'.
Still, you can't help drooling over how great female undead look in unarmed combat.

I once did won an unarmed duel vs a level 60 pally. At level 40. Course he was naked. And I had on all my armor and aspect of the monkey. And my pig was attacking him. And I used my funfact. And he didn't heal/buff/etc. But I won!
Fun Fact hunters. Mongoose Bite works while unarmed.
I got a decent unarmed skill. Why you ask?
Imagine if you will 10 people level 40-60 running gnomer while unarmed. Fun.

Funny how undead don't do extra damage while unarmed. I mean, they are clawed! But yeah, undead unarmed is the coolest among all races.

And of course you can't use any special ability when disarmed:
Nothing more annoying then fighting a humanoid, he disarms you and starts to run, you can't wing clip him and he aggroes all his friends

Ummm then by your theory, Taurens would also do extra blunt damage because they have hoofs :

Well, not entirely true: Warriors can use Bloodthirst even if they are disarmed.

Thats feet, not hands.
Other than that, Cat & Bearform Druids could be called unarmed... you can't be disarmed, but its not affected by any skill.

Look at the hands of the undead. Dagger-like claws! Now look at the battle animation of the undead when unarmed. Slashing the enemy with claws!
Since they are slashing and not punching, they should be doing more damage unarmed compared to the other race.
