One thing in City of Heroes that really impressed me was the controller class (my class of choice). His job in a group was basically to control the dynamics of a group battle. He had lots of snare, slowing, entrapping effects to use on enemies and as a secondary he had some party supporting buffs and/or some dps (depending on your secondary skillset).

From this concept I drew the idea of a new class or the idea for modification of a current class. This class would be outside the average tank/healer/dps equation that is the halmark of WoW so, i'm not sure how or where it fits. Only that the job of controller I found extremely fun and rewarding.

Example: Modification of Paladin/Shaman hybrid classes to fit this role.

Both classes would now no-longer be pigeon-holed into the healer roll as their primary role would be to help control the fight situation.

Example Talents, Shamen might have Mind Altering Effect, Storm Summoner, and Spirit Talker trees. The Mind-Altering effects would be confusion indusing abilities, causing mobs to wander, fear, or attack their own. Storm summoners would be able to cause slowing, snaring, or a variety of other weather effects. Spirit talkers would be able to speak with their dead ancestors, having them encumber the enemy with anyhting from ghostly visions to poltergeist like effects.

More to come on this idea when I return.

Shamens and Pallies don't need any more buffs the way it is. To my experience, they already have the best survivability rate inside and outside of BG's. Giving them fear, root, and etc will only make them even stronger then what they are.

Actually this seems most like locks. They have curse which can snare, attack, or weaken. They can give soulstones, health stones, imp buffs. They can dish out nice dps depending on spec. They can fear, suduce, or even debuff.
