Stolen Sidekick

This has got to be the craziest thing I have ever seen, smartest as well. Some guy has a friend who accidently left her Sidekick in a Taxi. Someone finds it, instead of trying to return it they keep it...

So the friend buys a new Sidekick and her info from her old one went on to her new SIM card and wouldn't ya know, the people who found/stole the Sidekick took pictures of themselves and family.

So NOW this guy is out to get justice! I think it's great what he's doing. Not to mention it's just plain hillarious at how the thieves are retaliating.

geeze... that's alot of time and effort put into it. I seriously think that if the cops are going to take care of it then it should have been left at that.

Plus I am strongly against posting pictures of a minor on the internet without their permission nor the parents permission. I don't care what they did or who the photos technically belong to.

I do however understand Even being angry. I would to but is it really worth all that? I say someone has way too much freetime and a great need for attention.

Yea I personally out of my own laziness would have shrugged it off and smacked my forhead out of my own stupidity. "Dang, maybe I should look into keeping a better eye on my $300 phone."
But I have had a lot of experience with cell phones and every time they ask, "Do you want the insurance? It's only $3 a month a it replaces your phone in case it gets stolen or damaged." I take that insurance quicker then a blink of an eye. That's $300 I'm not paying, that'll only be a $10-$20 deductable and a brand new phone!

I do think he is going over board with it and putting a lot of time and money into the sittuation, putting himself in the middle of something he doesn't belong in not to mention. But we need that one extreme person sometimes to show un-honest people that maybe finders keepers isn't such a good idea after all.

And the whole picture thing, I'm not sure on. I think in this case I'm not really caring. The 16 year old distributed the pictures already on the phone to her friends. I think it's fair game when playing dirty.
If that 16 year old thinks she's old enough to think she's a bad ass that can take on the world, do the naughty and have a baby, talk back to the people trying to get the phone back and threatening them, and have a boyfriend whose 26 years old and in the military possibly the baby's father. Then she's old enough for whatever that guy can throw at her regardless if she really is or isn't.
It may seem cruel but I was raised with a heavy hand and strict rules and if you did something that brought those sort of bad things upon yourself then you got to deal with the full flood of them. That's how you learn your lesson.

Plus it's just so dang funny. I can't help but stand back and laugh at the entire sittuation. It's almost like a soap opera. Ah, human beings, such a twisted species are we.

All the pictures that are on the internet were either:
a) Public on Myspace or
b) On the girls account who had the phone before it was stolen, so there her pictures. She can do what she wants with them.

Its all legal, thats why its so funny.

Also.. If you leave something like that in a Taxi it kinda serves yourself right. Relying on human decency to get it back is.. Naieve at best :p

I find it incredibly awesome that he actually found the time, the nerve and the addiction (never let him on warcrack or he'll never leave) to do this.

Bryant... I know it was legal. I was just thinking of it from the protective parent's point of view. If it was my kid then hell... i would be all for the police being up her butt so that she will learn her lesson and not move on to more seriouse infractions.. but I wouldn't want her to have to go out in public and be ridiculed for it.

Remember... I am not saying he was wrong. I am stateing my own opinion on the matter.

And as for the time thing... my opinion on that rests simply for the fact I hardly have time to breath between my 5 month old and my lazy Fiance (WHo I am seriously about to kick in the head or soemthing...)

Once again I think she deserves the full flood of it, she could have said to herself, "Wow these guys aren't kidding, I don't need this kind of drama in my life while I'm trying to raise this baby and hide the fact that I have an older man in the military I happen to be dating. Let me ask this guy if I can send it to a certain address and have this done and over with."

But hey if I had a kid and my mom was raising it for me I'd probably have the time to spit out horrible grammer and fight to keep the useless possesion of a Sidekick cell phone.

I have no mercy for the child who can't see the bigger picture in life.

the NYPD is probaly swamped with small crimes, I can understand why they would want to sweep the case under the rug and close it. What disturbs me is the way the officer tried to bully the guy into letting it go.

Well teenagers tend to be a bit dumb. Especially the really "Hard" ones that think they are invincible.

A list of sittuations that can ceom from selling it off or just calling a number on the phone and saying, "I found this phone, want it back?"
I do that in hope of when the day comes that I get incredibly forgetful with my phone someone won't go through the important things on it and then steal for their own pleasure and just give me a call saying, "Hey I found this."

I agree... although I haven't gone to the page where this story is officially written, because I can't get there from work, but lemme tell you, If someone found MY phone, took pics n' stuff, then I got a new one and had access to them, I'd find 'em, get them charged, post their stupid pics all over the net, edit them in photoshop, make them look retarded, tell the story with the pics, I'd do everything just to piss those people off.

I'd make it my priority for a month. I'd obviously drop it after, but not before getting my revenge tenfold!

I had a credit card number stolen from me one time. I was tipped off by my bank and their " not your credit profile" call to me. I was able to find where the card was used, it was for a hotel room, and THEY WERE STILL CHECKED IN. My co-worker was urgeing me to go over there get a room key and beat them with a baseball bat. I am not advocating violence, but the rage almost took over to consider that action. With the help of the hotel manager, a detective was able to arrest the CC thief which ended up being a ID thief also.

It is a rare opportunity when you find a thief using your stolen goods. Just be careful not to take the law in your own hands, you could end up the next criminal.
