Just have to say that this is one of the best places for info without any flaming or nonsense. A friend wanted me to play WoW and this is my forst pc game. Didn't know what to look for and ended up here. The post helped me make a few good choices that I can afford now and upgrade later. This is what I bought. What do you think?

PC - HP a1450n
AMD Athlon 64 x 2 4200+
2.2 GHz
2 GB
250 GB HD
NVIDIA GeForce 6150LE - will be a 7800 GT in a few months

Monitor - ACER 19" LCD
8ms
analog and digital
1280x1024 native and max resolution
700:1 contrast ratio

both delivered under 1k us including all shipping and taxes.

Ought to work nicely, and if it doesn't then give it away to charity. Know some gamers, who'd gladly trade with you.

Jesus christ that graphics card is kinda horrible in comparison the the other parts which are semi-godly. And you say you will be getting a 7800GT in months, when you will be much better off getting a 7900GT (which can OC to benchmarks similar to the 7900GTX 512mb), it is a much better card than any of the 7800s and will be significantly lesser in price due to new technologies being released soon.

In conclusion, nice PC, but the graphics card looks to be a real-pain in the bum.

sword,
i agree 100%. but for the price and other features, i think i made a good choice. a 7900GT might be doable. was kind of keeping a budget in mind for the whole set-up with the graphics card being the only big upgrade.
