View Full Version : "Rock Balboa 2006" & "Rocky VI"
So? What do you guys think? Does Rocky still have it in him to pull it off?
Personaly, I loved all the Rocky movies, and I really can't wait for this to come out! Even if Sly Stalone is over the hill (50+), the dude is still BIG and strong, and in better shape then 95% of most 20 year old's and in almost as good shape as a lot of 30 year old athletes.
*can't wait to hear the Rocky theme at the theater*
And come to think of it, it'll be my first Rocky movie at the theater since I was WAY to young for the others!
Rocky don't take **** for NO ONE!
He's calm, cool, and can take headshots like no other human being!
Seriously, Sly is doing another Rocky movie? You're kidding?

OH YES!!! Can't wait, I don't care if he's old, Rocky's were some of my all-time fav's.
And guess what else he's making next...
I'll give you a hint,
It Starts with "R" and finishes with "O"

Oh yes...
OH **** YES!!! RAMBO IT IS!!!
Man... This is awesome, I don't care if I'm the only one excited about this, I'll FINALLY get to watch not only a Rocky movie but a RAMBO movie at the THEATER!

Yeah, I'm from the city of brotherly Love (Philadelphia) I witnessed some of the scenes being set up on my work every morning. I think it will be great Rocky movies Rocked!
50+ is old?
CRAP!!!
Don't worry, 50 isn't old, jeesh I know a few 50+'ers that are in better shape than MOST of my friends. You're only as old as you feel.

He's 60 this year...I think it's a disgrace. Rocky V was a step too far. But hey, I'll go watch it.

It wasn't a disgrace IMO. Just wasn't as good, cause I think Rocky V should have been like more than just coaching Tommy Gun. I know there's a street fight at the end, but still... it didn't feel like your classic "Rocky" movie.
This on the otherhand will rock, I'm sure of it.
Remember? Arnold? Terminator III? Many people thought he didn't have it in him anymore, but hey, it turned out pretty damn awesome!

I don't mind another Rocky movie, but Rambo is just so outdated.. there are no communists or vietnamese anymore to mow down.. also the whole 1man vs army thing is so 70/80's.

I remember Ahnold. And, in my opinion, he never had it. Unless by 'it' you mean really poor acting skills.
Well, the movie's out, and I wanted to know who's seen it?
I got the chance to finally sit down in a movie theatre and watch a rocky movie, and to tell you the absolut truth, it wasn't good.
It was absolutly AWESOME!
To tell you the truth, I was excited and skeptical, I was ready for a disapointment... but I was amazed at how Sly manipulated the movie into actually making it really believable. Rocky movies don't revolve around one thing, like most girls think... it's not about some guy getting his head smashed in, but somehow winning at the end... it's about conquering challenges, whether you win or loose (lost in rocky 1 and a few other times) it's about not giving up, believing in yourself, if you want something, work for it.
I really loved this quote from the movie:
Rocky Balboa: Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!
And I don't know... but Rocky still is Rocky, in slurred speech patterns to the silly jokes he says: "I feel like a kangaroo... all this stuff in my pocket." as he fumbles for a busness card.
To tell you the absolute truth, I got that feeling like "It's just like old times". It really and truly FELT like a good ol' Rocky movie, same cast, Paulie and the Black trainer guy, the streets of Philly and the ash-grey joggin' suit, the rocky song "getting strong now" and the way Rocky doens't take **** from no one.
The movie is based on a bunch of believable events, just like any other Rocky movie, you really feel like it's real life, and that Rocky is really an actual boxer. From the way Rocky tells Paulie "I still got some stuff in the basement" (meaning he's still got some fight left in him) to the point that Duke (his Trainer, the bald black guy) says:
Duke: To beat this guy, you need speed. You don't have it. And you've got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out.
Paulie: I had that problem.
Duke: So what we'll be calling on is blunt force trauma. Let's start building some hurtin' bombs!
And damn... for a 59-60 year old, Rocky is in better shape than a very fair amount of athletes in their 20's. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be caught dead in the ring against him, he's massive, tight and just shaped like an unmovable WALL of muscle... sorry Ahnold, but Sly still has it, you don't Mr. Terminator dude.
I'm not going to tell you how it ends, because I encourage you to go see it yourselves, but let me tell you, it finishes off believably, nothing like OMG of course, that ALWAYS happens... no, it's good.
All in all, I give it
9/10 for entertainment
and
10/10 for effort to recapture that same "Rocky" movie feel.

Yeah i saw it, was the first Rocky i have seen and it certainly was good. It was clear Sly had a few more things to say about life before he bowed out.

I'll see it. Rocky was a cool movie; the rest were just copies but still halfway decent. I've always liked Sly's movies, very good escapism with no thinking necessary.
