View Full Version : Full tram system

Ok I'm still fairly a newbie and I just used the deeprun tram for the first time today and thought it was a cool idea. What would be more awesome is if they implemented a full tram system that connected the entire eastern kingdom instead of just between ironforge and stormwind. Kinda like a subway system. Players would pay a small fee to use it. Make a similar system in Kalimdor.

Not to burst your bubble, but what would be the use of flight points then?
lol...they have it already..its called flight points...unless you like underground that much

so why can't there be both? So just because there are flight routes there can't exist another form of transportation? Can you please show me where it says that? I said it would be cool in that players would have more than 1 option for transportation. It's called being versatile...ever heard of it?
It's like saying what's the point of having a druid when you have warriors, rogues, and priests.

I think it would be neat if in a role-play aspect the Gnomes decide that they have a new project and that is extending the tram across the continent. You know Gnomes would do it too!!
So people can choose to fly over the world or keep out of the sunlight and ride that tram, sometimes flgiht paths are just to laggy for people.
I remember when I started playing WoW when I had been living with my mom still and I had the crapiest computer out of the bunch, flying in to Ironforge stunk! You'd lag up and wait for it to load for a couple minutes or get booted. Sometimes people just can't handle that much enviourment on their screen.
It'd be a neat idea to have a choice in taking a tram underground and the Gnomes boasting about their 'trophy' and how they're smarter then them there goblins! Not to mention it'd be easier for people to travel if they have a computer that's barely running anything decent.
We have cars, buses, boats, airplanes, helipcopters, trains, subways, light rails, bikes, horses, camels, skateboards, skates. What says we can't have mounts, flight paths and a tram. I'm sure the Goblins would get jealous and strike a deal with the Horde on making a underground/aboveground (since Horde has some areas with open land) train.
I think it's a fun idea!

I really think that blizzard should expand the transportation system. how about a cross-continental blimp? I would just like to have more options of getting around.

The problem is where would it go? Maybe booty bay, but I am not sure Gnomes would want to connect to goblin cities. No other alliance cities are big enough to warrant a tram. Maybe one could go to Gnomer, though they might have shut it down to protect IF from the lepers. You could connect one to Lordaeron (UC), that would make sense, but be a pvp nightmare, and I think Sylvannas would have destroyed the tunnel by now anyway to protect her people from bloodthirsty paladins.
Kalimdor? no huge alliance cities to connect to there either. Elves won't want it (besides it would have to go under the ocean which is way deeper than merely under a mountain)

Yea, I dont see this workin well at all. First off, it would only be able to conenct to ally towns/cities and nuetral cities. It would be a PVP NIGHTMARE. I would get all my guild to board the tram in a small allianec town and ride it straight into ironforge...IF would be destroyed easily.
I also would hate seeing little level 1 gnomes running through Searing gorge just because they have a tram spot right there.
Cool idea, but implementation would suck.

On this note, there ought to be a zeppelin that runs between Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluee. It wouldn't have a loading screen like say, the UC to Grom'gol Zeppeling, it's just leisurely cruise over the barrens, more like the boat between Teldrassil and the mainland.
Though some kind of Goblin Monorail would be pretty neat too.

I'm not really belittled, although I don't see the need for getting so defensive.

Alternative transport options are in place, and are known as Mages. at a mere cost of 20s (unless they're spiteful, i know some wil lcharge 1g) hey presto, straight to a major city :D

.
Really no need for that, considering you can skip flightpoints and go straight from Ogrimmar to Thunderbluff without stopping at the Crossroads, least iirc this was implemented a couple of patches ago.
But I have noticed one thing that people are seemingly not wanting to mention and which may also lie at the root of Negative Beef's desire for a tram.
Zeppelin, boats and tram are all free, you don't pay for the service, whereas flightpaths do cost you dosh and this is precisely one of the reasons why Blizzard will most likely not implement such a system. Flightpaths are just one of numerous moneysinks to seperate the players from the gold they've accumulated.
In addition, purely from a Lore perspective it's problematic. We know that the Gnomes were absent from WC3, due to their fighting against the Troggs, that means that after they fled to IF, they had maybe 3 years (considering relocation, PTSD, financing, getting the materials etc) to build that one tunnel, which is relatively straight.
Considering, where all the other Alliance villages/outposts are, and considering the bashing the Alliance economy has taken (amongst which the loss of one of the main gold mines aka The Deadmines).
For all of that to be connected together, we'd probably be looking at them being done around the time that the WoW servers are getting unplugged.
