Patch 1.11? is barely warm on my HD here but if you want to know more about some of the things planned in patch v1.12 then check out Blizzard's under development page. As was hinted at E3, some very cool PvP features are being added including objective based PvP which is something that is long overdue and a feature the game really needs. Here's a snip on that...

While the Battlegrounds are about to receive a major upgrade of their own, players interested in World PvP will be glad to hear that patch 1.12 will introduce a brand-new type of PvP content to the game. The stage is set for objective-based land battles of truly epic proportions as Horde and Alliance vie for control over important strategic positions and resources around Azeroth. Stay tuned for more news about these new world PvP enhancements coming to World of Warcraft.

Hmm well it could be good, or it could be an absolute nightmare :p

Will these "world PVP objectives" apply to PVE realms also? I sure hope so!

I hope they clean up the flightpaths to make them a bit faster.

You shouldn't have to fly from Felwood to Auberdine to in order to get to Nigels Point.

I can see the global pvp being an immense lagfest...

lagfests rock :) as long as you don't disconnect ...

i am really interested in this World PVP again.. but it smacks of Realm vs Realm combat in other MMO's.. which i guess is good and bad. as long as there isnt any lag.

not too sure on the cross-realm battlegrounds.. how would they size them up? does Blizzard just assume that 2 servers with the same amount of players on both factions and equal amount of time the server has been up are equal matches?
for example:
we have at least 5 epic horde guilds on my server and a ton of un-guilded well-geared PvP'ers.. if we took our guys vs a PvP group from a "lesser" server.. we'd own them. Wonder how Blizzard is doing the battleground matching?

I don't think it's necessarily set up like that, more like just making the queue for a battleground that can be joined by people on different servers, so feasably a portion of the players on the same side as you could be from a different server.

I don't think the idea was ever "server vs. server".

Just to sort of clear up what you guys are talking about. It was said at E3 that their would be areas on the map, such as the broken down tower between SouthShore and Tarren Mill, that might be an objective. The two sides would try to hold the tower for a certain length of time (maybe in a King of the Hill type way, who knows) and would earn points for doing so. This is just speculation, but I'm assuming that there will be other areas, maybe even resource points, added simply for guarding to earn Honor.

At least that's how I understood it.
