Despite rumours circulating a few days ago Spielberg's spokespeople have confirmed that the master director will not be directing the new WoW movie according to Speilbergfilms.com. Let's hope someone decent is at the helm, last thing we need is a Warcraft movie turning into something like the Streetfighter movie ;) Thanks Ajax.

Steven Spielberg's offices have told us in no uncertain terms that Mr. Spielberg will not be directing "World of Warcraft." The project is in development, but not with Mr. Spielberg attached.

I doubt this surprised anyone.

I'm somewhat positive that the movie will suck, no matter who decides to direct it, but please don't leave it to Uwe Boll.

It would be sweet if the guy from LOTR trilogy directed the WoW movie!

I can't say I am disappointed. Never liked Spielberg movies.

Lucas and Speilberg are business men NOT filmmakers, I'm SO glad they will have NOTHING TO DO with a realization of a World of Warcraft brough to the big screen.

ANYONE but Uwe Boll!

Even some kid in college still getting his film degree!

for some reason I feel that a warcraft movie would be very similar to Lord of the Rings.

Gotta second (third?) the Uwe Boll rejection, but please, not Lucas either. After the way he's screwed over his fans since his first 3 films... I'm really starting to hate the guy.

So in the running would be

Peter Jackson

Who else has the credentials to bring the world to life on the big screen? Oliver Stone? Wolfgang Petersen who did Troy which wasn't all bad.

I actually quite like Spielberg. War of the Worlds was good. Actually lots of films he's been involved with have been cracking good films. He was involved The Goonies too which I have a soft spot for:)
