Aye maties!!

Well I noticed this in the official forums and even though the grass is greener on this side of the fence I just know it rings true everywhere you go.

Well I noticed that there are people that have their "mains" which they keep in good standing with...And then theres alts. These alts tend to carry a personality all of their own. The simple things that people preach about in game on their mains they tend to contradict while playing their alts. Such as people that complain about the idiot spam in global LFG while on their mains tend to be the very chuck norris touting comedians while playing their alts. I noticed this in the official forums because some people arent clever enough to remove their sig before posting on an alt. And I'm not talking about this topic specifically but however an array of different annoyances. If you browse through the threads here you'll notice a string of 3-4 posts with similar viewpoints starting out a topic, and then 6 pages of the same viewpoint with the occasional rebuttal. Sometimes there are nice back and forth debates but I think alot of people just follow the crowd when they are in fact doing what they complain about. And I'm not saying people here are 2 sided , I'm saying people everywhere are. Im just curious of anyone else ever noticed (be it in game on the forums or otherwise) this phenomenon. I'm not trying to stir things up I'm just looking at the facts.

Ok this all stems from the global LFG thing (which is not the topic of this thread). I see nothing but complaints about it in all the forums (minus the few that like it) however there dozens upon dozens of different toons utilizing it as their own personal chat channel. Now either none of these chuck fans ever post in any forums or they are just following the lead of those that posted before them.

I guess I dont really have a point..Other than be real people.

This message will self destruct........

These alts tend to carry a personality all of their own.

Anonymity leads to deviant behavior, due to lack of responsibility and or negative consequences. You see the same people using level 1 alts to undercut auctions. This goes hand in hand with my belief that people are basically evil/bad people and the rules/laws are there to try and keep them in place.

If you took a poll from 1000 random people on drug use/crimes committed and could guarentee them to remain anonymous you would get a lot of confessions and truth being told. If you guarenteed the same people AMNESTY but not anonymity you would not get the same answers.

Could be that some of these people are deviant sociopaths such as John Wayne Gaycee who was an upstanding member of society and even a performing clown. However, he hid the fact that he raped young boys during or even after strangling them then buried them in his basement.

So, split personality? Perhaps...or perhaps they just like to do dirty little things that no one knows about, such as Chuck Norris jokes.

Sorry for rambling.

personally, i can say with total honesty that i dont do that. i hate the global LFG spam and other types of spam, and as such i make every possible attempt to avoid it. also, i dont have any twink alts, nor do i plan to, so i need to keep all my toons in good standing with guilds/others so as to always be able to find an instance group.

this is not to say that you are wrong. far from it. just pointing out that not everyone is as you say. (although most are i believe)
