Just dinged 60 for the first time evar, yays.

I skilled up first-aid to about 280 or so. Will finish it off soon.

But I never took cooking or fishing. Are these useful / worth the time?
Any guides on how to do it?

Dunno where to get the low-level meat stuff.

You can combine skilling up fishing and cooking. Just cook what you fish. :afro:
If it is really usefull depends on your class (eg mage can conjure his own food and water) and your professions (eg alchemy needs the fishing)

If you search some guides, I believe they are stickied here (or were before the "attack on the site") or take a look at http://guides.worldofwar.net/

Personally, I don't see how a 15 minute bonus to your Spirit and Stamina (not to mention other things like mana regen or stuff like that) couldn't be useful, especially since it's a secondary profession. In my opinion it is useful to every class just like First Aid is... Frankly, vendor-bought or conjured food is not nearly as good as cooked food, and now I'm talking about the food that gives bonuses of course.

And then there's Dragonbreath Chili :)

As I recall, the concurrent fishing/cooking level track gets a bit weak in the mid-100s so you might have to bolster with a lvl125ish recipe for a short duration. The wolf meat recipe combined with drops from wolves in Ashenvale is a good way to go, but the recipe is a limited vendor item in Desolace.

The truth of the matter is that you can definitely live without either, although you will get better food from your own efforts and you can make some decent $$ (or support an alchemist) from fishing. I see 60 casters farming greater sagefish for the mp5 buff all the time near GromGol even though the hp/mana regen is way too low to help them. Its all about an additional mp5 buff.

Does the flamebreath of DB Chili do any damage, or is just a cool cosmetic effect?

I agree, I always level my cooking and fishing, but I know that some people cannot put the effort and time in fishing.

Honestly? You can level up both fishing and cooking to 300 within a few hours at 60... its more of a "thing to do when you're bored at 60," although it would have been so much more useful from 1-60. O:)

fishing is usefull for summoning the zg boss(ghaz) once you get all the goodies and trinkets required, we dont have many people in our guild that can do that yet

I love fishing ingame (hate it in real life...too booring...irony?), but Fishing will skill to 300 at 60 just as slowly as at 35. It just takes time.

Yeah, does between 60-70hp and, if I am not mistaken, can crit for close to 175 or so as well. The effect is random. I have had it go off 3 times in one fight and no times on many occasions. Its usually about once per fight 2 out of every 3 fights.

Another nice part about it is, at least on my server, it sells well in the AH, going for more than savory deviate delight by a decent margin. This is understandable, however, since it is more practical than SDD and the flame sacs are harder to get than deviate fish. No idea about demand though since I always consume mine.

The bad part about it is that the effect can cause other party members to stop fighting and laugh. Apparently my druid catform looks hysterical when DBC procs.

DBC is funny - I've only used it a few times.

I was wondering though, what is the best recipe / food you can make (I'm a Warlock)?

My cooking is now at 299 and my fishing at 250ish - so can pretty much catch / cook everything available - what should I be 'rustling up' for the group?

Sagefish delight is a nice one to have for any casting class. Even though its hp/mana restore is only good for toons in their 30s or so, its 15min mp5 buff is good for any mana-using class.

Too bad that Savory Deviate Delight doesn't affect minions also. I'd love to see my succy in a pirate hat.

I think i made about 50% of my money with enchanting, rest with fishing. its insanely good (specially if ur horde, ez acces to deviates fishhhies)

sagefish however is the biggest moneymaker, a free mp/5s. Also for the twinks there is the scorpid surprise and the other exotic high healers for less ( tellsell anyone ). Id say fishing is so worth it, and with the fishingpools its very very ez and more fun then ever. U have no idea how much i shout HELL YES when i land my bobber in a pool with 'junk' and fish up the tighly sealed trunks, or when i get a 'insanely bloated stonescale eal' with goodies inside. cooking it up is also fun, as u get to make campfires! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA kumbajaaaaaaa anyone

anyways, do it , seems boring at first, but its fun to do and u can make good money with it (im on approxx 6k just on eels sagefishies squid and savvys .

I made a habit of fishing 5-10 minutes before I head off questing, and my skill is growing slowly but steadily. There's no rush, and actually it really makes fishing less boring - doing it an hour straight will probably result in never touching a fishing pole again.

In my guild a lot of people started it when we had trouble getting MC's last boss down (Ragnaros) and we needed to look for any sorts of buffs. I already had fishing and cooking at 300 by then and could supply some nightfin soup etc.

I use fishing when I have like less then an hour to play and want to get some cash. I fish for deviate fish then, or stonescale eel when I feel lucky.
