Hello guys,

For a few days now I have been trying to understand how exactly one can try out WoW before buying. There seems to be almost zero info about.

While I found a link on blizzards site to download the client, the trial keys are nowhere to be found.

I hear there is a "Recruit a friend" campain, but no one appears to be interested in doing that for some reason.

Is there a way to try the game before buyng ?
How can this be done ?

Thanks alot in advance
Murky

If you have a friend with WoW, they can give you a trial key to play with. Sometimes the gaming magazines will also hand out trial keys (thats how I got sucked in).

I don't know if Blizzard makes trial keys available online, though.

They don't. Heck, they don't even sell regular account keys either for those with trial accounts, who have the program installed and don't want to bother with getting the cd's themselves.

Anyway, there is the recruit a friend program currently running, where folks can recruit a friend into a WoW trial account and be creditted a month's worth of free play. (Course, afaik, this only applies to the US version).

Course, if he had no friends who play WoW, then he's up the creek with no paddle, considering it's not allowed to ask for such a key hook up on these forums here.

Not allowed ? Why, it does not appear to be illegal (after all its a promotion tool)

So, I am suposted to make new friends now ? :undecided:

Why? Because the Mods say so (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=373015).

And yes, you'll have to make new friends then. Or just try the game. First month is free afterall, though you will need a CC to create the account, if you're a Yank. And the price doesn't differ from any other game on the market that you make a gamble on as to whether or not they're fun.

Every game has a free downloadable demo which allows a sneak preview.

Same for this game, only here people seems to be extremly reluctant to help others from some reason.

But thanks for the brisk reply

You are right when you say that it isn't illegal, Murkin, but that doesn't mean this forum should become a medium for people to ask for trial keys every half hour. Apart from that, as Aerath said in that thread Valas linked to (which should actually be sufficient information, by the way) we've had too many problems with this type of requests, so we basically decided to disallow them altogether.

There are some alternatives: you can look around a bit in your own circle of aquintances and see if anyone has WoW (you would be surprised of the amount of people playing it), or you can ask anything you want to know on these forums and the official ones, or check out the websites, and decide that way if you want to buy the game or not. I couldn't get hold of a guest pass myself so I did it this way, and I have never regretted buying it.
