ive been looking and looking for a trial of wow for a friend so they can try it out before they buy it. i have the game myself but i cant give it to them cause its a internet friend. i know theres a european trial offered, but ide like to play with them myself so they will be more interested, and i can explain everything to them, otherwise it will just be boring.

So do you know of anyway for this person to try out the game and play with me on a north american server? or perhaps the "oceanic" servers are also available on the european servers? that way, ill at least be able to make a new character just so i can play with them.

Thanks :)

I'm not sure it'd even be a great idea if it is possible... (think it'd require an american copy of the game, plus an america based credit card...)

Your friend most likely would suffer from incredible lag.

Your friend most likely would suffer from incredible lag.

Depends on his net-connection and rig actually. It's definitely doable without tremendous lag, even in lagcity IF. Provided you got the right specs.

well even with lag, ide still like to try it. but the question remains, is it possible? is there anyway to play with this person on a US server or i can play from my version and her trial version together?

Thanks.

i just remembered!

world of warcraft comes with a 10 day guest pass. i can just use that

now the only question is, can my friend still download it from the european site, use my code and access usa servers?
basically, is the server list built into the server, or the code you use? cause then i wont have to send them my 5 cd's which is a pain. so what do you think? work with trial download and access us servers or have to use cd's?

CD's is better, because there is no guarantee that the version she'll DL is the UK version , which can be juryrigged to work with the US version and vice versa (German and French versions cannot be juryrigged and will create language problems to boot). Or, just buy her a new WoW game and then mail it to her.

It'll also save headaches around patch day with version/server compatibility.

Also remember that the trial version usually has limitations - not able to use post, AH, and channels for instance. Sending the game as a gift is a good idea. :-)
