What I have found signficantly annoying when playing as a hunter is switching from that bow to the melee when the enemy gets too close..if someone has time on their hands something to counter this would be great for the community as a whole.

i.e monster comes to close ..without having to manually click the attack button or a melee ability to continue attack the monster with your equipped sharp/blunt object. thanks :O

Umm ... dont really understand what you want, you can try something like AutoAttack(on Ace SVN) or DefendYourself!

He wants something that with automatically switch to his melee weapons without having to click anything. As soon as, or even before, the "Target is too close" message appears, he wants his swords out to dish the damage.

I don't know of any such mod, but I'm just helping out the OP. I have heard of something called Item Rack where you just click a button and you can switch out a whole set of armor/weapons.

Easy, when I am playing my hunter alt, once the mob gets too close, I usually just right click on it, which put me into melee mode.

Item rack will not help when you are in combat since you cannot switch/equip itmes when you are in combat. ItemRack for BEFORE you get into combat and you need to switch armor sets. Useful for things liking switching from PvP to PvE sets or Resist sets or when fighting in places where mobs/bosses that you about to attack use a particular school of spells (nature/fire/frost/shadow) and the next group of mobs/boss uses a differnet school. (esp Naxx) You simply set up your PvP, PvE, Resist, Healing, etc armor sets and then quickly switch sets before combat.

its not a question of weapon switching or armour switching./....i just dont want to have to click on teh monster again to engage in close quarter combat or light up a raptor strike. i just want with one click to start shooting my bow...then when he gets close to draw the melee weapon i have currently equipped and keep on attacking...

I just hit the mob with a raptor strike. That puts you into melee mode by default.

i found the best thing to do is the put "wing clip" on your action bar and you will clip and attack all in one move ! Works great in BG ! :afro:
