Does anyone here actively farm SM or Ulda? If so how much G do you take in per run/hr?

I've never kept track actually ... but a lot of people do farm SM. I just do it for fun when I'm bored or for silk to level up my alt's tailoring. As far as I'm concerned with regards to Ulda though... there is one and only one reason to go in there. If you are an enchanter and need to open up the 225-300 leveling range.

That place sucks.

Someone in my guild stated that they made 50g an hour farming ulda that was why I asked about it :D

I'm not a big farming fan the ah is profitable for me, but i'm looking for stuff to do that won't make me level up and i figure I could take any guildies along that might need drops from the bosses.

runnign people with you of course will severely cut into your profit margin by dividing up the dropped silver and any big earners like BoE blue drops I'm sure they will want as well.

I run guildies thru things here and there.... usually the division of the silver is minimal... i am looking for lots of gold, not the 90s-1g of silver lost.

I just make in known up front that I get everything but the BOPs....they can have those.

This way, they get the xp, the quests, and the BOP's (which are the best part for them anyway really) plus they get the quest rewards....

works for me.

I'm goign to take a couple friends and run every part of sm tonight and see what happens. An experiment really, I think we could run all of it in just over an hour.

Mage/warrior/priest party. all mid 50's.

I have a higher level priest and between me and my friend who is a 70 mage we would run through ulda in liess than 15mins. we would just go and hit the mobs that dropped greens and blues. My priest is a skinner and I was able to skin the scorpions which sells well. And I was a miner so I was able to mine in ULDA. As I recall there was iron and other ore there to mine. I used a U/I a basic one Cosmos which I dont recommend, for the loot to see what was dropping I would sell the greens and DE the any BOP. My friend and I would go back and forth. He got one then i get one and on. Inbetween running ULDA just for gold I was making about 20g per run selling the mats from which I got from DE. so hope that helps.

2 level 50-60 range mages can take out SM Cath and Library in about 30 minutes. Personally (I have a 64 mage) I can do Library solo in about 20 minutes. Lot's of valuable BOE's, silk cloth, and vendor trash. I don't know how much I make cuz I don't keep track. However, I'd venture to guess that if you do grind quests in outland you'll make a lot more per hour than farming SM. I do it for for fun than anything.

I can attest to this. Running all 4 wings of SM I can make about 30-40 gold or so AFTER selling the cloth and enchanting mats. Spend about the same time questing in outlands netted me over 250. Plus SM gets BORING after a while.

oh so true

the only thing that may be interesting to farm would be the old lvl 60 instances like strat undead side for mats that still have a use but noone farms them any more like Righteous orbs or the large brilliant shards. The brillant shards sell as expensive on my server as the large prismatic shards.

apart from that, i wouldnt bother ^^

70 mage.. i farm ulda once in a blue moon for specific boe's for alts.. I can see 50g an hour being made there if you're an enchanter. My mage rarely takes damage.. so many mobs it's aoe heaven.

I think the most profitable instance to farm is sfk though. The chance to get twink rogue weaps plus the sheer number of skins per run make it a 50G+ per hour instance. I've had an assassin's blade drop 3 times in 40 something runs... at 200G per blade on the AH, it puts a smile on my face everytime it shows up.

I wanted fiery mats (small radiant shards) for my wife's new weapon... she likes that fiery effect :)

So I farmed Cath, Arm and lib on my 64 shammy last Friday night. Took about an hour, I cleared way more trash than I needed to. Cathedral is a pain because you have to clear the cath or they all come in and join the fun when you engage boss. If you have good AoE then Cath is more effective as you get 2 small radiants there.

I got 3 small radiants... 1 at arm, 2 at cath, the lib (illusionary wand) DEs to a large glowing. So that is 21g. 100 silk cloth - sold for about 5g. Vendor of 2 full bags of crap - about another 5g. All the stuff I forgot about - probably another 5-10g.

Best bet would best armory, running straight to end boss and resetting. Guaranteed shard, and who knows you might get the uber-rare tabard of the scarlet crusade (1% drop from the scarlet trainees after boss)

Well not that I've been much of a farmer in the past, but since I dropped skinning on my main (70 mage) this last Saturday, I did some SM farming to get the silk needed (silk is going for retarded amounts of gold nowadays on my realm), tried all the wings and finally chose Armory as best g/hr ratio. I had luck with 3 BoE blues which sold for 65g combined, but I'd say that without them, factoring in the dusts and essences from disenchanting everything, I was pulling a solid 70g/hour. I still haven't sold them so I can't give an exact figure, and of course I used the silk, had I sold it I'd have made quite a bit more. I will try Uldaman at some point, but now I'm too busy farming netherweave for 300-375 skillups.

I agree on SFK. You can get Assassin's Blade or Shadowfang to drop which will net you some big money. The only problem I have as a mage is that I AOE everything down and it's a pain to loot all the corpses (I'm talking about having to sift through a pile of 20 dead mobs laying on top of each other) in hopes that your blade has dropped. Is there any faster way to loot the corpses?

They are also fixing looting in 2.1, you won't have to spend ages hunting for that 1 pixel that is overlapping so you can loot the bottom mob :)
