Greetings everyone! I'm one of the old farts (that's right - 43 years old!!!)
Anyway, I just purchased the game on Wednesday, and (I think that the term is grinded) my way up to level 6 as of this morning. Getting gold it kind of tough, and I never have enough room in my backpack for more stuff. So, I'm constantly having to return back to merchants and sell off the cheap stuff (claws, wornout pelts, etc).
Oh, forgot to mention: I'm on the Silver Hand server (I'm pretty sure). Alliance Hunter night-elf. I finally found a merchant that will sell me a skinning knife, but the price is very expensive for me. It's something like 2S 85. So, I have to keep killing off the monsters to get more copper/junk to sell back to the merchants for more coppers to build it up. I wish it didn't take so long.
... Sorry, I'm rambling on...
Being a noobie, I've tried to look around for an Acronym list. Places where you could look up where PvE and AH what those things mean? Yes, I know it's Player vs. Environment, and I think that AH means Auction House?
Also, I was hoping to find a nice alliance casual guild to join up with so perhaps I could do a bit of trading with some of the guild members? Is there a link I could go to that lists stats on each guild, and if they take new recruits/initiates/peons?
Thanks everyone,
HunterXel

*g* Sounds like you're going about it the right way. You don't make much money in the early levels, but by lvl 20 or so silver pieces will be about as valuable to you as copper ones are now. Do buy the skinning knife as soon as you can, though, as you can sell leather and make some more cash!

The bags thing is tough, if you're not lucky enough to have one or two drop early. Don't buy bags from merchants, as they charge lots. If you have a look on the auction house (it's in Darnassus (and the other cities), I don't know if you'll have been there yet at lvl 6) you'll find that you can buy small bags for not a lot of cash.

Good luck, and have fun :-)

Here's (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/glossary.html) a glossary.

AH does mean Auction House, yeah

Yes, that's the town. I've just posted my stone/rune at the Inn there in DArnassus. I think that there are 4 slots for extra bags right? So, first priority is skinning knife, then bags! Thanks.

If anyone can recommend some guilds, or general links to a database/listing of all the available guilds that would be great.

Don't forget to do the quests. The early ones especially reward you with basic gear and enough coin to get you started.

Oh, one more question for you all out there.. I can't find the area that I'm at on the maps anywhere in the game manual? Where is it? Any help?

On the AH, where is the closest one to where I'm at now? Do I have to pay to fly there?

Yes, I'm doing lots of quests. One of them I'm currently doing is running back and forth getting some sort of moon water filled up for a guy. He still hasn't shown me what rewards I'm going to get for the quest, but I think that I'll only be gettin XP's for them instead.
Oh, and I finally got killed for the first time last night :undecided: but that was OK, cause I just ran back to my body and resurrected. I guess it happens a lot.

If you're a Nelf, I think you'll have started in Tendrassill (which I can't spell) - it's an island off the north-west of the western continent. The nearest AH is in Darnassus. I'm sure you'll find yourself there soon. Shouldn't cost you anything.

Thanks! I finally found the town on the map That worked well. The deleted, see Valas' post for linkeys website is really great for having the detailed map information! I like their website. I'm at work right now, and many "gaming" websites are completely blocked (firewall settings the company has), but not this one or the wownations' website! hehe
The map didn't show any AH, but I'll check around in Darnassus for one.

Hey, welcome! I'm 43, too, so us old folks are out there (and constantly being amazed at the "1337" teenagers "pwning" everything.) If you want to find the AH in Darnassus, I'm pretty sure those guards or sentinels will tell you; I don't hang out in Darn much but it must be the same as the other 2.

A) We got maps here (http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/) as well. You could print them out, if you find that more convenient.

B) When in doubt, indeed ask a guard, they'll mark the place you want to go on your minimap. Just follow the arrow icon on it.

C) In case you need quest help. Try here (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/questsearch.php) for some additional tips.

hi there you old fart - i'm a very young 39 (i can't imagine being as old as 43!)
Good to see there are some other oldies playing :-)

I have 3 kids and find it hard to devout huge amounts of time to wow. So one of the things i have found most useful is to have wads of cash. And the best way to have wads of cash is to fully understand and use the AH. All my best equipment drops come from there.

Make it your mission to suss it out. KCMA's gold making thread is an awesome read - its in the warlocks forum (dunno why though).

Best thing about the AH is that it doesn't suck hours of time from you - it can be used to farm cash with for just a few mins each day.

BTW for searching out guilds the official wow site will have a forum for your server - check it out to see who is recruiting.

good luck

Baglady is hiring baggers =)

oh... it's in warlock forum because ppl whiiiiiine about gold. ohhhh, kcma, you're full of BS. looting is too important to pass up for xp/hour, AND no warlock cannot afford to lifetap and bandage!! it's TOO $$$$... so it's there.

and to see it put into practical use, Baglady has a thread in hunter forum <3
