1. How does the wrapping paper work? If I wanted to put something into the wrapping paper I just bought, I open up my backpack, and see the paper, and an Item I want to put it into... then what?
2. Can I mail an item to someone in the game? Or sell a person an item through the WoW mail? How do I do that?
Thanks

Right Click on the Wrapping Paper, and then Left Click on the Item you wish to Wrap.
It will only work on Single Items (not Stackable Items)
And yes you can mail it that way.

Slight clarification: items can be stackable, just they can't be in a stack at the time.

It would be far more interesting if you could right click on the paper and left click on the person you wished to wrap...

I haven't quite worked out why Blizz even have this. Weighing the occasional use a player might have for sending a gift to a friend against the constant use of wrapped items in scams, I'd have to say - lose the frickin wrapping paper Blizz!

Yeah, it's a common one. You buy some coal, or mining picks, and send a couple hundreds to people on your server. Charge a COD of 1g. Some people will pay, figuring 1g isn't that much and because they are curious. If enough fools do that, you got yourself a hefty profit.
Of course, that will ruin your reputation, or might not work at all...
But the wraping paper is fun, use it around Christmas to send wrapped coal to your friends (seems it means you've been a naughty boy in some countries) !

People getting scammed by buying stuff in wrapping paper?... They had it commming then  Agreed. You have to have more money than sense to fall for this scam but even so, I just don't see the point of wrapping paper.

I prefer the "Lottery" concept... send out a few dozen mailings, but instead of 1g (an obvious scammer amount), ask for 20s or so... It's low enough that curiousity would cost less than you can make in 5 kills at 60th, and high enough that you'd make a profit for the cost of buying, wrapping, and mailing a gag prize. Then toss in a few mid-level greens (useless "Shammie" drops on Alliance Side, or "Pally" drops on Horde side, that won't sell on the AH for a song and prayer) in the stacks of coal and other various sundries, and you might get a "Hey, I actually got something from this scam mail." shout in town, and then perhaps even MORE people might open the mail the next time 'round.
I've had this idea floating about since I first returned a 2g COD wrapped package (with a nasty message for my 30c)... Better to get one or two at 2g, or get a few dozen for 20s a piece?
30c postage + 1s gag item + 50c wrapping x 50 recipients
That's 90s spent at the get-go.
Get 2 takers at 1g for 1.1g profit.
OR get 25 or more takers at 20s for 4.1g or more profit.
Toss in a "free" item (low level green that is worth MORE than the 20s COD) for legitimacy, and you could have a real system going.
Note: You'd just have to keep a real database of mailings... so as to not resend to people who returned the mail the first time. And, if the "winner" returns the mail, then send a nice message telling him/her that they really had won, but had chosen not to participate, and that you'll not resend to them again, per their choice.
Scam? Not really.
Annoying? Only to the overly sensitive. And if you're smart about not "spamming" to uninterested parties, then not really offensive.
Would you get /reported? Most likely. Because not everyone can see the past the scammers and see what kind of fun other people can have in Azeroth that doesn't involve ruining another person's day.
Would the /report be held up and get you into some form of trouble, from a harsh warning or outright account shutdown? Again... Most likely. Blizzard has a very hardcore view on "gambling" systems in WoW. (One of the things that made me enjoy WoW more than my old home of EQ)
This is the main reason I haven't made any attempt to create a Gnome named 'Lotto' and start mass-mailings. Just a few /reports, and I can be pretty sure that they wouldn't bother asking, and just shut down the account.
I can understand shutting it down, as well... One successful run, and 50 others will pop up to try and cash in. That much mail spam, and the whole lot of 'em will just get banned for causing server instability.
So, the cool idea gets to sit back and never see the light of day. Until someone with more time then sense reads this and acts on it without heeding the warning... this type of activity will most likely get your character /ignored at best, /reported in all likelihood, or your account completely /banned as a worst-case scenario.

Huh, I didn't realize that they would actually shut down a person's account just for doing that? Oh well.
