Ok, i just downloaded the trial version of WoW over the weekend and i was hooked. So on friday im gonna go buy the full version, make a new acc, and start a new character, and i was wondering if i could get some starting tips.

- I started off on a Tauren Warrior in a normal server, and he was kinda boring... hit this, hit that, nothing fancy cool. If anyone has any suggestions id gladly appreciate them.

- Also, whats the difference between PvP / Normal / RPG servers. Obviously PvP is for player vs player, but cant you do that in the normal servers? Whats different in the RPG servers... can you not do PvP or something?

- One more thing, for the professions... which are the best? There were so many and i have no idea which each one did.. so i picked mining/blacksmithing.. because they kinda go hand in hand.

in pvp realm, you can kill someone in any contested zone. in normal realm you can only be killed if you turn your pvp flag on, or in BG.

best profession is the one you suck the least with <3

On PvP servers, all but the starting areas are contested. That means you can attack members of the other faction, and they can attack you. On PvE realms you can PvP in BGs, but you don't get any world PvP without turning on PvP manually and hope they attack you.

RP servers are for roleplaying, making a background for your char and then behaving like it would have. They can have PvP (RPPvP) or PvE (RP) rules.

Professions depend a bit on what class you are. Tailoring is best for Priests, Mages and Warlocks, Leatherworking for Druids, Shamans, Rogues and Hunters, Blacksmithing for Warriors and Paladins. The other professions are about as good for all classes. Another common setup is two gathering professions (Mining, Skinning, Herbalism) to sell what you get on the AH so you get more money.

As for class... what do you think is "fancy cool"? Spells? Pet? Stealth?

If warrior is "hit this, hit that", then mage is "cast spell here and there" and Priest would be "Heal this and that". Actually warriors are a hard to master class and incredibly important in group play..but maybe you fancy something evil like a warlock who works with his demon...?

i guess that's why hunters and rogues are more popular, they get to "kill this, kill that".
