Nope. Unless, of course, you do dumb things--like basically turning your game into a bot that can be played by pressing one button and requiring no attention span. Do a search for "Linux" and it should come up...

But no, using Linux is not against the rules. I've done it on SUSE with no problems.

It's doubtful imo, but then it would be wiser just to call the Blizzard helpline and hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

No, Cedega just provides the necessary functionality to make WoW be playable in Linux. It isn't a 3rd party hack, and is fully supported from TransGaming, and accepted by Blizzard (in fact, they've had some pointers occasionally make it into support pages on the worldofwarcraft.com site that suggests things to Linux users).

I do not use Microsoft products, do not have Windows, and just never got around to getting a Mac. I use Linux, and if it wasn't for Cedega, I'd have some serious issues and difficulties playing WoW. Don't worry about Blizzard getting upset at you, because Cedega just provides the Windows API connections that games like WoW need. Don't expect Blizzard tech support to be able to help you much, however... since Linux isn't a "supported" platform (find & sign the WoW for Linux petition, I forget the link).

Treats tend to help, if they go away then it's the mouth. Otherwise, you just end up with dirty hands.

You can also run WoW using Wine, you don't need Cedega (commercial version of wine). Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Well, it's both Wine so it shouldn't matter. Cedega is just easier to set up.

Cedega also had mods to the source AFAIK, I heard Cedega runs WoW faster than XP while wine runs it about the same as windows. J/W

I had to mod the source too to get it to run on Wine. That's why I said Cedega was easier to set up. But you can find these modifications and howto's. I haven't tried it with Cedega, but mostly because it runs fine on Wine. Little smoother than on WinXP but not by much.

Cedega was actually the renamed WineX IIRC, although they're both from the original source.

I've been using Cedega with WoW from the beginning - it works a treat with me and is as fast as my Windows partition was (before I deleted it). It's well worth the subscription.
