I'm looking to check out iron forge...but am currently in westfalls. Can you guys recommend and walking route up to iron forge. I'm currently level 16 so I'd rather like to avoid any "entanglements" on my way up there.
Do they have horse cart rides? Woudl be nice. I only have one flight area listed on my gryphon rides.

Just head to the Dwarfen District in Stormwind and take the train to Iron Forge. That's much easier than walking.

Or if you're not in stormwind, you can take the road out of Menethil Harbor, following it south at the fork, and through the series of tunnels. That'll bring you to Loch Modan eventually, which is where IF is.

Strictly speaking, IF is in Dun Morogh - which is SW of Loch Modan. But yes, if you walk through Wetlands and then through Loch Modan, including some tunnels with some nasty 20ish orcs, you will eventually get to IF - as many low level Night Elves have found out (including me, at level 6:)
If you're in Westfall, the best (and really the only practical) route is to go to Elwynn Forest and then up to Stormwind, head to the northeast corner of Stormwind and catch the tram to IF, picking up the flight point once you get there.
In theory I suppose it is possible to walk from Westfall to IF, but iirc you would have to go through both Burning Steppes and Badlands - none of which is really recommended for a lvl 16. So yes, try out that fancy Deeprun Tram - it's a fun ride.

talking about walking it would probably be faster to walk from westfall to SW, then walk the tram tunnel...lol....considering all the death you'd experience in BS/SG

I think the Stormwind method is good. I need to stop there and check on some auctions I have up.
That is if I can log in...this morning before work it logged in, but got stuck on the "connected" sign. hopefully it'll be all good when I get home tonight.

I was thinking about that... IIRC the increased aggro radius for a low lvl is capped, so a lvl 5 won't have any wider radius in BS/SG than, say, a lvl 35. There aren't actually that many mobs close to the roads... I reckon that you'd die a few times in Redridge, and maybe 2-4 times in BS (once just getting into the zone, when you have to cross the bridge with teh laval elementals)... possbily not at all in SG. You'd need somebody with the Key To Searing Gorge waiting there, as you'd never make it through Badlands. May have to try it one day :-)

didn't even think about the SG key - ooooh..yeah the blasted lands would be a nightmare to try to get through...can't remember if Ally graveyard is centrally located to make spirit res handy

I have a friend who tried to get from SW to IF when we were just starting playing, I think we were lvl 15 or so at the time and we were trying to hook up in Loch Modan. Not knowing about the Deeprun Tram, he tried to just follow the map - struggling through Redridge and setting foot inside Burning Steppes, at which point he was immediately 1-shotted by a lvl 50+ earth elemental :) So no, it's not recommended.
BTW, it does make perfect sense that the aggro radius is capped - otherwise a (say) lvl 8 undead character walking east from Tirisfal Glades and into Western Plaguelands would pull the entire zone instantly :) For a character in his teens in a 50+ zone, the aggro radius is nevertheless pretty massive.

Thanks for all the replies. I was looking up this tram ride and also found something about Shanks' Pony, but I can't find were I find it. Any ideas?
All I can find is that it's slower then other methods

Don't know about any pony, but for the tram you need to wander around the Dwarven District of Stormwind until you see a tunnel with a rotating cog around it. In there is the railway.

It's worse than that because I don't think aggro radius is zoned. Basically a newbie who wandered too far east in Tristfal Glades would suddenly see a load of level 53 spiders and Scarlet Crusaders rushing towards him.

Assuming you mean Badlands... no, Allies appear at the graveyard just outside Kargarth. It's a pain for Uldaman... and also would be for this.

Shank's Pony is an English idiom mate. Below is the description from Wikipedia but it basically means you gotta walk :P
Shanks' mare is an idiom meaning to walk; to "travel by shanks' mare" or "ride on shanks' mare" is to walk to your destination. Older forms of the phrase include Shanks' nag and Shanks' pony, using different terms for horses.

I was looking up this tram ride.
If, you can't find it, then ask a guard to mark it on your minimap, by way of selecting the: Where is the Tram? dialogue option.
