So far, Sofie met the gnome and the elf and saw how an old man went up in flames and disappeared, right?

yes, that's correct. Thimble saw his boss destroy the bartender and the Drunken Unicorn, and only Sofie, himself, and Kerrik survived, finding a note afterwards. The note told them to go to the far north to an old(supposedly) haunted monastery.

Hello everyone, and hail to all DnD fans!!
Firstly, I would like to apologize for breaking into the thread so abruptly, and without invitation. If you wish to make this post deleted, just contact Shanda.
Reading your original campaing setup, I came up with some concepts, regarding such a future-Faerunian world. Maybe this will be too steep for this world, but perhaps you would be able to use some pieces of the concept
The world after the day of the Gods' Twilight
It has always been foretold by prophets, time and time again. Neither mortals, nor divinities paid heed that it would once come. The Time of Troubles was just a warning. The gigantic battle of gods and mortals alike, has almost succeeded destroying the entire world, and drastically changed what remained: entire continents have sunk to the bottom of the sea, and lands have grown out, where nothing has been. All the living were terribly decimated: entire races have wiped, while others have just barely survived. Non-human races have become extremely rare. And almost the complete Pantheon has been slaughtered, destroyed, gone forever. It was foretold that the great enemies would once quench eachothers' life, but no one has ever imagined it to be so brutal. The essences of the fallen gods have dispersed around the world - now collected by those divinities that did not participate in the apocalyptic conflict, and thus survived... Nature, which has almost completely been destroyed, has started to regenerate once again. Trees have taken roots, and fields have sprouted rich green grass. The few remaining survivors of the Theomachia have founded villages and townships on the new lands, while others have taken refuge on desolate lands or rare ruins.
Now, that more than sseveral thousand years has passed, something of the ancient glory of ancient tranquility and glory of the kingdoms of the past, appears to return... Most of the towns are inhabited by humans. Non-human intelligent races are rarely seen on these lands, some people have not even seen any of them, just heard about them from gossips and tales.
Elves are a rare race. they mostly tend to live beyond the human civilization, in unaccessable, desolate mountainlands, or hidden deep within the wilderness., being frightful of human presence.
Dwarves are also a rare sight. They tend to live underground. In the past millenia, they have explored the possibilities of mining minerals on the new lands, but they gradually moved deeper, and left complete regions rich with dwarven shafts, but actually, devoid of all dwarves.
halflings have also been driven out of their ancestral lands. Now, instead of rich farmlands, they live on the barren wastelands and deserts, on the border of civilization, as daring nomads.
I have also written a specific example, regarding the Elves in this new world:
Elves are a rare sight in the new world. Most of them are distrustful of human presence, harbouring fear mixed with hatred towards them. These feelings are well based upon the closing events of the migthty Gotterdämmerung. Corellon Larethian, the father of all elves, was slain in combat, which was proclaimed to mean the end of the world for Elvenkind, yet not all of them fell on the mortal balttlefields that fought parallel to the divine ones.
Not even the victorious Gruumsh could reflect over his success for long. Even if he defeated teh Seldarine with the help of the Gods of Chaos and sent their existence to a bare memory, he did not count with one: Lloth, the Spider Queen, who was more than content to quench the Orkish creator-god's exstence with a well placed poisonous bite. Somewhat Ironic, that the betrayer of Corellon was actually the one who avanged his death. And this has started the age of drow invasion on the lands. Just before the powerful earthquakes have collapsed the entire underdark, swarms of the dark elves have appeared on the surface, enslaving everyone they could, paying special attention to their surface brethren, who could have felt the terrible grip of
the Selvetarm for the first time on their own skin. Fortunately, the drow dictature did not last long. Lloth was slain by the unified strength of the crusader-gods, and her might crumbled, as did the drow empire. Seeing the events it is not surprising to know, that actually very few of the old elven gods have survived the massacre. The elves (good and evil alike), also, bereft of their overwhatchers' rule, have felt empty and broken for centuries, fleeing from the vengeful humans.
Nowadays, the elven pantheon is ruled by Eilistrae (who gained the rank of Grand Matron of the Elves, as all the others above her have fell), the good-hearted Great Goddess of Elves, and her brother Vhaerun, who assumed the role of war-god, from being the god of male drow thieves. His aligmnent also changed a bit, but still, he embodies the dark side of elven nature.
Perhaps it si not a surprise to see that most of the current elves descend from the drow refugees, who have also mixed with other elves to some extent. The curse of the Seldarine that has forced them underground, shunning the light, and providing dark skin, has also dispelled with their demise. Many of the different elven subraces have either gone extinct or (as many have theotretized), they have gradually lost the special abilities their patrons have given them.(for example, the Avariels' descendants no longer grow wings as it was a divine gift from Aerdrie Fenya, who is no longer among the living)
Most elves tend to live a reclusive and secretive life in their small communities. Though unknown to humans, some larger settlements also exist in great secrecy, among the impassable mountain ranges of the Middle Lands. With their misery shared, most elves no longer separate themselves by sub-races. The differences have reduced to barely important esthetic traits, nevertheless. For exmple, those that have more drow ancestors, whill have an olive-green taint on their skin, compared to the less pigmented skin of those who have less underground forefathers. Most of the scattered communities still keep in touch, however, communicateing by magical means, or occasionally, using magic portals. They are no longer immortal, though still live many dozen times longer than a common human.

Yes, you've done quite well on this short little piece, as you have correctly guessed that this world was post-Faerunian, althought this is two worlds after, with Ao being dead at the end of the second world.
