I'm trying to make a case to spam Minblast in a raid. Mindblast has double the threat of normal spells, but I want to check my math on threat reduction.

Here is how I understand threat reduction:

If I spec my priest for silent resolve, he gets 20% threat reduction. If I spec him for shadow affinity, he gets 25% threat reduction on shadow spells. If he gets blessing of salvation, he gets 30% threat reduction. (Is BoS 30%? I can't remember for sure.)

Therefore to calculate threat I would go: 1*.8*.75*.7 = .42. Does that mean that my total threat reduction is 42%? Therefore my spells do 58% of their normal threat? Or does it mean that my spells do 42% of their normal threat?

If it's 42%, that means that Mindblast, with it's double threat, would still only cause 84% threat and spamming it would be viable without pulling aggro.

In essence you are right. with 3 reductions of 25%, 30% and 20% and lead to an actual threat generation of .75 x .7 x .8 = .42 or 42%

SO the reduction is 58% overall.

Your mind blast will therefore generate 84% of the threat a similar amount of damage would normally generate. I am presuming your doubling is correct.

I think Salvation is 35% which gives a 61% reduction or mind blast causeing 78% of normal but not 100% certain.

Mindblast has extra innate threat though...
