View Full Version : translator mod?

I assume this has to have already been discussed and deemed impossible, or it would already exist?

But is it possible to create a translator mod for Alliance/Horde communication?
I know there are at least some words that always seem to appear the same. Kek translates to Lol for instance, right?

Does anyone at least have a database of all known translatable words or phrases that always translate to the same word?

mods that facilitate you being able to communicate with the opposite faction are may result in you being banned. they are against the rules!

but unfortunately, i do not know of any text sequences that would allow you to construct rudimentary words. perhaps you and one of your mats can talk over vent/TS on a horde and alliance char, to develop your own database?

The translation is consistant, i.e. the same word will always translate the same. As far as I know it hashes the whole phrase and assigns a random new letter to each letter so within any given phrase the same letter will appear as the same letter in the translation, just like "lol" and "kek". I can't remember if it works two ways, i.e. if Horde says "kek" do Alliance see "lol"?

I certainly don't know the hashing algorithm and obviously we can't post it even if we did work it out since it's highly illegal.

The only way to work things out is to communicate out of game as the previous poster said and say random things.

Hope this helps, and I hope I haven't said anything more than I should have done.

I have one, GM told me it's not illegal. It took me a freaking long time to add words to it tho ...

When some Horde says something, I see a new line after his line with a translation, some words have the same translation so it's: word/word/word*

Are you able to share the translation mod that you have?

Another idea is to have a mod able to TALK in the opposite language using spaces or non-alpha keys between each letter, so each letter ALWAYS translates to the same letter again.

like typing:

'/tsay I hate you.'

would convert "I hate you" into "I h a t e y o u" or "I__h_a_t_e__y_o_u" or something, which would then be translated letter for letter ("w r t f l b x q" or whatever, i made that up...)

which would then be passed back to the regular /say command, so the horde see it on their end as:

Aetherr says: I H a t e Y o u.

On the recieving end, the mod could be made to keep a log of all incoming text from chats, tells, says, etc... and translate everything letter for letter before recording it into the log, which is useless obviously without the spaces, but once you tell teh horde to talk with spaces or something, you could then look into the log and see what the translated version said.

So, theres my idea, and if its not illegal (im gonna go post and find out on the WoW forums right now) could someone make this mod, cause I haven't the slightest idea how to start it myself. :)

Cross faction communication is a violation of the TOS.

C. You agree that you will not (i) modify or cause to be modified any files that are a part of a World of Warcraft installation; (ii) create or use cheats, "mods", and/or hacks, or any other third-party software designed to modify the World of Warcraft experience; (iii) use any third-party software that intercepts, "mines", or otherwise collects information from or through World of Warcraft; or (iv) allows players who are playing characters aligned with the "Alliance" faction to chat or otherwise communicate directly with players who are playing characters aligned with the "Horde" faction, or vice versa. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may update World of Warcraft with authorized patches and updates distributed by Blizzard, and use authorized Third Party User Interfaces as set forth in Section 13(g), below.

GM told me it's not illegal.

I don't believe you.

I read into this a while ago, some people have done extensive work into translation and they all came to the conclusion that its impossible. Mainly because the database used by blizzard isn't that big so you find some words being equivalent to a large number of possible translations. typing in 1337 5p34k works though apparently. as does finding out letter for letter translations and typing with gaps

leet speak use to work but I think they fixed that now. There is a pretty big database online somewhere of numbers being used. What also use to work was ultaleet speak, but they fixed that also. ultraleet uses []\,.<>/-_+= and other symbols. You can try it now, but I doubt anything will work. There is also a ultraleet speak translator online http://home.no.net/hellshl/main/translate.html
