Recoloring/changing item models.

I know it's frowned upon by blizzard but I hate certain items looks in wow, for instance I detest the look of my mish'undare, or that dreaded robe of voletile power. I am not looking for haxx or anything like that, I am simply after a easy to use method of changing colors and if possible switch item models with each other, I only wish to change the client side data.

Anyone know of something that can help me with this?:smiley:

Read the following:

1. Blizzard has clearly stated that changing the ingame models (including character) is illegal.
2. Since Blizzard has stated that changing ingame models is a no-no, this site and others have removed said AddOns. Some may have fallen through the cracks, in that case see:
3. Blizzard disabled the ability to change ingame models as of patch 1.10

This also applies to "merely" changing an item's color, as the way it is implemeted in WoW, in order to change the color of an object you have to change the model. There have been some ongoing discussions with the Devs about allowing players to change the color of their gear (aka dye), however that will require the Devs to change the way character models are colored.

Note just because what you want to do is "client side: does not exempt you from the above. All model changes were client side however Blizzard did not like this as it could be used to exploit the game (ie make things like making herbs easier to see helping farmers or making some mobs/opposing faction very big to make them VERY easy to see/farm/avoid)

So I am stuck with the stupid looks of my char then :cry: You mentioned there where some ongoing discussions with the devs, are there any special threads somewhere you could refer too?

Yah you are stuck with the looks of your character. I do not remember which threads I saw the post as it at least six months ago. The general idea I got from the threads though is don't hold your breath. IF (and that is a huge if) they do add the abilily to dye your armor it will not be until a later expansion as the code currently does not support changing your armor color. The devs have stated that they would like to put the ability to change your characters looks. Again that was some time ago and the threads location has been lost to the mists of net browserdom.
