View Full Version : Ninja looters: what to do?

I am wondering what should be done about ninja looters, it is not a problem really at a low level, but at higher levels this can be a real issue.

I'm looking for sugjestions as for what to do if I have to deal with the idiots, and almost any sugjestion is welcome.

There is nothing you can do except warn other people about the looter.

:banghead:

My guild recently had a ninja looting experience. During an MC raid a hunter was told he was not allowed to roll on a particular sword as rogues and warriors had priority on that weapon (as explained on our forums). He left guild straight afterwards. Later that week his brother, also a member of our guild, ninja looted all of Majordomo's chest. The hunter then joined our healing channel to mock us. They both then left the server.

Its just something you have to grin and bear as there is no way around it. Our guild still runs raids on free for all loot and we just figure its worth losing the occasional item to weed out the bad eggs (to mix metaphors).

On a happier note we discovered the realm the ninjas moved to and they cannot now get a raiding guild there.

Looks like you did a dosage of owning them with there next realm (btw how did you find it out?)

I'm just glad I haven't had an experiance with any of them yet.

Oh well, in the game I used to play the person who did the most damage got the loot... And if it was tied the person with the least exp. would get loot - I kinda wish things were like that when it comes to looting sometimes...

Just wondering what exactly is a ninja looter? From what I can tell its someone who rolls need when he doest need, but even after that he still has to win the need. Im only up to lvl 30 instances so I have yet to experience this.

On my server the guild of some of the biggest whine babies and ninja's and stuff along with some ninja looters left a few months ago, I was so happy.

Master Looter ftw.

This man speaks the truth. You could also try being more selective when recruiting/getting a group. We've done MCruns with free for all loot, without any incidents :)

Im only up to lvl 30 instances so I have yet to experience this. Loot rules are generally that you pass on BOP items and discuss who gets it. A typical ninja will simply wait for everyone else to pass then hit need or greed, automatically winning the item.

It's not so much an issue at lower levels but can be a real problem at high levels.

The main problem I find is that the only recourse is to use a global channel (usually LFG) to announce their ninjaing. This is often ignored or ridiculed however, which I find strange. The alternative for a guilded ninja is to contact his guild and inform them of his actions. This can be productive on occasion.

Most ninja like people also act like small children with small minds.. Say things like STFU NOOB and such.. So usually easy to spot.. Just dont group with them :P

See, now THIS is actualy fairly helpfull, I was trying to find ways to find them before I had to deal with the idiots...

I tend to ignore people who act like idiots anyways. Or I have a selection of things I can say to them that they don't understand and go all noobie, giveing me a lot of laughs.

And hell, that's what pvp servers are for.

On a BoP item is it alway customary to pass then talk about who get's the item? I would say this would be great in a guild group.

But in a PUG how would you decide who would get the item? Say 3 of the 5 people are buddies of course they are gonna say that their friend should get the item over you. I say in PUG's if you need the item go ahead and need and if they want to pass then discuss well then they should make shure you know this before going in.

I have played both ways and I prefer the pass on blue BOP. I'm fine with rolling need/greed too. Either way it must be communicated clearly before you ever enter the instance.

Take a look at WoW wiki (http://www.wowwiki.com/Loot_ninja).

I feel there is only one way to deal with a ninja. Ignore them, communicate their name to your entire guild, let their guild know about it as well.

I've done a few PUG, because I don't have a guild, and am not interested in one... So far we've done the talking thing, and it's gone fine each time. I've gotten quite a few nice little things :)

on lower lvls it does not matter.

on higher levels, raid whit your guild, and have loot on master looter. no chance for a ninja whatsoever.

( and btw, what s soooo bad about a ninja ? you can kill domo again next week, but the ninja will not find a place in a raid for a long time )

They are extremely annoying, first of all...

Second of all, sure you can do that again, but that is x ammount of time (time to do instance) wasted if they looted the main item you needed.

And they make me wish i could pull out an oozie and turn them into mulch (fish food! :P )

EDIT: I forgot to mention that if they ninja a drop from a difficult monster (like Lord Kazzak or something, if he can be ninja-ed [he's an example] - ) you might not get it again for a while.

Master Looter ftw.

Unfortunately ML does not apply to Domo's chest anyway. FFA is just a bit faster and easier for the raid leader.

KalziEast

I agree, FFA/Group loot is MUCH easier. Okay, you can get ninja'd, but 1/10000 times that's going to happen to YOUR guild, if not less. Take 5 minutes (or more) each boss for loot (on just two to three items) or 1 minute for ALL items?

Ok how not to be Ninjaed:

1. Be the Master Looter
2. Group with People you know
3. Establish loot rules
4. Ask the Raid leader to ML or ML a paticular Mob that drops what you want.

If you get Ninjaed:
1. Realize it's a game, the person is an butt, and be calm.
2. /who his guild name and ask for GM and officer names. In game mail them.
3. On your guild website, list the offenders, date/time of Raid, items jacked. Lock the post.
4. Add ninja to ignore list. Tell Guild to add him. Don't run with anyone from their guild till their leaders make amends.

What not to do when you get ninja'ed:
1. Send death threats
2. Whisper them for 2 hours +
3. Send your guild to whisper them for 3 + hours
4. SPam IF
5. or SW
6. or Daranassus
7. or the LFG Channel
8. or the Trade Channel
9. Run around after them yelling "Ninja Looter"
10. Post it here
11. Post it in WoW forums
12. Attempt to hack their account
13. Make alts to harrase them.
14. Send them naked pictures of Oprah Winfrey
15. Umm...anything that makes you look like a bigger jerk then them.

It happens, it sucks, move on.

ML gave Emberfury Talisman (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/item.php?id=12929) to a Warlock, who needed it - as did melee.

I ninja sometimes, but usually just on BoE green items that will be sold in the AH no matter who gets it. Sometimes if I'm not winning my share of greed rolls, I'll roll need.

Guilty ^_^

That's a pretty nice necklace... I've killed that guy at LEAST 10 times and it hasn't dropped once. *Shrug* Weird. Also, I RARELY ninja things. When I do "ninja" something, it's NEVER something that everyone else needs or whatever, just a simple green BoE pressing need on it for an alt, to which by alt I mean someone elses alt, or someones main possibly who needs it more than I do =).

Happened to me twice. I play a warrior... His reasoning was that the warlock may want it for fire resistance. Drakefire anyone? :undecided:

That was his reasoning too - as if others don't need FR as well, and could use the 1% crit.

Someone just ninja'd esvics book in ubrs. it was a "7man from my guild,3 randoms" run, and the random mage took it. I took a screenie, i'll post it on WoW realm forums, i'll whisper all friendly Guilds. Nothing else you can do. My rogue guildie went on this trip solely for getting the new rank :s

BS...heh

He (the rogue) has never said such on the official WOW forums...and has had numerous opportunities to do so.

I support him getting the book, but there is no eivdence (yet) of your statement above.

I've never found a problem with Master Looter..but then saying that i very very rarely even entertain the idea of random groups.
If we have to invite a person we do not know into our guild runs, our usual run leader is always master looter. And very fair.
We think we have indeed foiled at least two possible ninjas.

If you ninja, you suck. Grow up and stop annoying people.

I have heard of people doing this –

If you get ninja’d bad – like they gank everything from Rag - everyone in the guild get to a vendor and buy as as many of the cheapest item you can. Then get to a mail box and send each item one at a time to their mail box.

Then start a rotation – every few hours a guildie sends them 20- 50 boar ribs or some other trash. Just keep the mail full.

This does two things- A. It’s just annoying. B. They can’t transfer their char. It won’t let you if you have mail and it takes a few hours for the transfer to be approved. If they get mail during that time it won’t allow the transfer. Their stuck on this server for as long as your guild feels like working to keep them there.

Just depends how mad you are…

Oh – and if your lvl 25ish – it is possible to get ninja’d, but its really not that bad. Even if it’s a 00.01% drop you have been farming for- it will be obsolete in a month when you lvl up some.

Best thing to do?

Just get over it and don’t group with them. Make sure you let other know what happened so it doesn’t happen to them. People like this only hurt themselves.

THAT’S A 50 DKP MINUS!

Our guild is only small and oftern have to grab a few randoms, but i have come up with a method that seems to work, i announce before we enter the instance that everyone rolls greed, on all items, need only for equipping there and then only if they ask the party 1st. this way if someone needs the item then the chances are they will get it, also if more than one person needs the item they can both need roll it.
