Hi all

We are hopefully going to try Hakkar tonight for the 2nd time, I read that some people on here have been having problems with him since the patch after having him on farm for months.

Was just wondering if you have downed him since the patch and what tactics you used to do it?

I didn't see any difference.

Just spread out around him, to prevent everyone getting that debuff thingie. Pull a son, kill him, get poison. Have 2 tanks, sheep them when they go red, dispel them asap as they go green. Loot ;)

Only thing we found odd was warriors using bows when MC'ed as aposed to pre-patch where the just went melee for us. Above tactis are great. Its just a mid-long fight which will push your healers mana pools and tanks gear a bit.

Well we went there last night after having some problems with the panther boss.

We did as everyone says and spread out around hakkar and pulled the son when we are supposed to to get poisoned etc.. we got him down to 50% a couple of times but we seemed to have problems getting the sons down in time.

Does anyone have any advice on this part, it seemed we could get the first 3 sons but then for some reason missed the 4th so got drained?

Are we doing something wrong?

This is only the 2nd time we have tried him though so its all aout experience I guess but any advice would be great. It looks like it should be quite an easy encounter so hopefully we'll get him next time.

What classes do you usually take with you?

Missing sons would be down to the person doing the pulling of them (always a hunter for us). Not sure why they would miss it as it rarely happens to us, but then if they aren't used to doing it... Well I'm not a hunter so I've never done it, but we always pull on the 45 second warning if that helps at all.

Getting the sons down shouldn't be a problem at all. They have little heath; if you pull them at 45 secs a team of 5 people from the dps classes (hunter, rogue, mage, lock) should easily get him down in time. Since you will run in to serious trouble well before you've been reduced to 5 dps-ers (unless you're doing the last few percents) killing sons shouldn't be the bottleneck.

The basic tactic of spread, get son, kill son, get poison, spread again, sheep MC-ed warriors, loot works brilliantly. The only thing I'd like to add is that warriors should burn their aoe fear as soon as its up, cause it is possible that it goes off before they are sheeped.

As for class composition, the fight is pretty flexible. We are running in mostly tier 2s now, so that helps, but as long as you have 2 tanks, 2 mages and 7 healers you should be fine. Fill up with other classes as avialable, as long as you have a reasonable amount of DPS left. Any class can pull the sons.

here's how it is done properly...

Clean, no deaths, everyone doing what they are suposed to do...

Full fight there so, it's about 7-8 minutes long... not sure cause i'm at work and can't DL it here.
Note that we were not a Full epic Guild when we did that (we still aren't)
Only a few pieces of T1 and T2 here and there.

on a side note, video was made by Coffincast, our Mage CL and music was picked cause he is Hakkar, the SOULflayer

HF

Edit:

We normaly take to ZG:
Warriors 3
Hunters 2
Warlocks 1
Priests 3
Druids 2
Mages 3
shamans 3
rogues 3

Some additional tips.

The poison is the most important thing. We tend to tell our hunter to get a son at 1m and he has it there for 30s and we usually kill it by around 15s. Make sure everyone understands the importance of the poison beforehand and that it supercedes ALL other priorities aside from healing the MT. As a result it's good to have your healers around the centre and the ranged DPS at the edges as you don't want your healers spending too long running to and from getting the poison - your MT could die as a result.

Make sure your non healing classes bandage after Hakkar has leeched the poison. Nature Prot Potions are a help to begin with.

3 Tanks on hakkar is a good idea as well. As he can't be taunted, if a tank dies you have another one third on the aggro list to continue fighting. This might be a good way for you to learn the encounter since it will give you more practice at actually fighting him and less practice at SS'ing up and rezzing!

Good Luck!
