Install problems...

After taking a break from playing WoW for awhile I decided to install the game again but I keep getting this error message "Patch data is bad. (source CRC mismatch: 2145872945/-672913347) (BNUpdate::PTCApply)". Now the cd's isn't damaged because they've been in the box since the last install. I've tried the tips on moving the cds to the hard drive and trying to install in safe mode (and cleaning the temp files, closing all background services etc., I'm more than an average computer user) but keep getting the same error. Now I've seen 2 more people in the WoW-europe forums with the same problem but I accidently clicked the wrong button where you accept the terms and therefore have no way fot me to interact with them, but still, they haven't gotten any help so I turn to you. I would send a web form to Blizzard but there is another error message saying I didn't fill in the all the fields and, well, I have. Please, I need my fix :P

Download the client (it's big but it works, i've had to do it once) and just use your cd-key...

He meant the WoW EU client.

That ought to do the trick (http://teaser.wow-europe.com/).
Just get the latest patch from say fileplanet or fileshack etc.

Well, putting some powdered magnesiumoxide on them and then dropping some water droplets on them gives some nice fireworks. :tongue:

Ok, querry a) from where did you get your patch? b) Have you defragged your HD recently, if no, try doing that before dl'ing a new patch.

The problem wasn't the patch, it was the install, but I found post in the tech forum on the official site, that concenrned RAM bus n stuff, tried that and it worked :D:D:D thx for all the help tho

haha this is fantastic, I couldn't log in in to the game so I figured that it must be something wrong with the trial client, so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall from my cds... back to square one.... Can't even install the trial version now... Is there any special thing that you have to do to "activate" the trial version in case my computer decides to be generous again

Install it, and there should be an option about going to account management, and then select the upgrade option and then just enter your regular account info.

It's been a while since I did this. So, I may be skipping/forgetting something.

Don't know if this will help or not but I was having problems with my wife's wow so i did the following.

Installed wow, or tried to into a directory on her drive.. it was all jacked but the registry entries were more or less correct.

I then copied my entire wow directory to that directory on her machine, worked just fine.

Thx for you're help people, but I finally managed to get around the problems thx to this guy:

Things is I had to rip the CD's also AND install in safe mode (installation took little over 2 hours...) AND clean the temp files. And naturally followed his directions and limiting the memory and CPU.

The account problem was just an idiotic mistake, I accidently downloaded the US version of the trial client so my account didn't exist there.

Now of someone in the support staff could summarize this post so users with the same problems could get help here, it would be appreciated. Now I could do it I don't wanna start a new post with the same problem.
