View Full Version : What will the "recommended system reqs" get you?

All,

This is for the younger and tech-savvy folks that abound here. Now, I know pretty much what it is to play on the minimum system requirements for WoW and it isn't pretty. However, I've also gotten to play on a MacPro (blech, I know). Now, I don't like Macs much, but the specs for that thing seemed to have been intended for decent gaming. I still see slowdowns in capital cities, etc. So, I'm wondering about those recommended system requirements I see on the box and on the Community Website. What will meeting those get you? Seamless play? No slowdowns or jumps? I kinda doubt it. So, what do you need to get 100% seamless play (barring server issues, of course)?

Minimum and recommended reqs are here for those of you lucky guys for whom it is a non-issue.

I ran wow on minimum requirements when i first got it.
I couldn't play in instances...i could barely run through a city.

Few months later i upgraded my PC and now (when wow behaves) it runs smoothly with all settings maxed out.
For starters you need at least 1gb RAM
A reasnable graphics card (I'm not that well versed on all cards but i know my Radeon at home is a good card for a midish price)

I'm not sure totally smooth play is ever possible though. Apart from depending entirely on your connection, Blizz will never be able to offer totally smooth play all the time.

I get no problem running the game with
2GB RAM
2- 7900GT's video cards (Nvidia)
and a 2.6GHZ Processor....

the big thing is RAM and the video card... WOW is a RAM hog....

{IMO} I think that 1GB RAm is a bare minimum.
For the video card WOW Rec.
"64 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as NVIDIAŽ GeForce™ FX"

I would think any FX series card with a minimum of 125MB memory would work just fine....

If it's a possibility I'd suggest a sound card also... .
Having a sound card will free some RAM and processor and dedicate it more toward the visual aspect of the game....

I've ran many test with sound cards.. and noicted a increas in FPS and a more smoother gameplay

Hope that helps... ^_^
