Oh my god, I had a char on Magtheridon with some nice stuff and now he's gone. Can someone tell me what the heck is going on?

I don't think so, I can still log onto my account but my char isn't there anymore. My buddy also had a char on Mag and his is gone also.

That you can still log into your account doesn't mean you weren't hacked. If the toon is gone - report it to Bliz. Someone may have broken into your account, mailed off all your stuff and then deleted the toon. If it is another problem, then contacting Bliz would also be the thing to do to get it sorted out.

Silly question probably, but are you sure you've gone to the character screen of the relevant server? As opposed to it just opening up to a new realm screen with no characters created yet?

If, it's the former, then click the change realm button and find your server. If, it's the latter, then have a chat with the Blizzardians on monday.

check the customer service forum on the official wow site

there appears to be a rampant spread of keyloggers in various links posted on those forums as well as links to addons/UI's

i had my main character wiped but my password was not changed

there are MANY people being affected by this, hopefully you are not one

open a gm ticket, or email the customer service... if worst comes to worse they can restore the chars for you.

thx for all of your help. What happened was I was looking at the realm screen and the Magtheridon server did not show that I had a char there but when I opened the server up there he was, with all of his stuff. Even though I've opened it the next time i logged in it did the same thing. It's acting like it's a new char, i'm transferring from that server as soon as possible.

That happens with all my servers from time to time, so the problem may not go away just because you move your toon. I think it may just be a sign of the login-server being too busy to track down all you toons for all servers so it just fetches a few back, if any.
