Hi,
I bought a copy of WoW in the UK (Europe) yesterday. I've installed it, entered my info, the cd key etc and now it's giving me the option to join one of the listed EU servers. However, I would like to instead play on the US server so I can join my friends. There was nowhere in the installation process that gave me this option so I'm guessing it has something to do with the key I entered. Is this correct? Can someone clarify that for me?
If that is the case, how can I obtain a key or otherwise switch from playing on the EU server to playing on the US server?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I think the only way to play on US Servers from EU is to buy a US version of the game, and vice-versa. I don't think you can play on US severs with an EU version of the game.

I all honesty, I remember hearing that there is some way to "hack" your way to intercontinental play. But not only it kinda feels wrong, there is also a definitive reason why such connections are not allowed by default; Its not very funny if a whole server gets massive lag just because some dozen dudes from the other side of the ocean want to play that way, whatever their reason may be. Its always over 1000 players versus those a few people who do it.

You have to buy an American version of WoW to play on the US servers.
You can by all means change the Realmlist file to connect to the US servers, but you cannot logon to them, as you would have a European Account.
I have heard that one can exchange a EU key for a US one, no idea how you would do that though :/

Keep in mind that some of the things he's talking about have been made impossible several patches ago. The whole language packs issue.
Anyway. UK to US can be juryrigged without too many headaches, still a few, but doable. Same applies to the reverse, French or German to US or vice versa, forget about it, too many hassles to be worth it and even if you do pull it off, weird things start happening with the UI apparently. Least those were the reports we got from folks who tried it, even prior to the language pack implementation, so things would be even worse now.
Threads got nuked by that... person.. who hacked into a Mod account and went for a joyride on the forums, lot of stuff was beyond repair unfortunately.
