Hey all,

here is the trouble, when i initially started playing i had no frame issues with all in game settings set near 50%. Currentlly, my frame rates are dropping into the single digits and i have no idea why. heres the sit and gear:

Comp: Dell Insperon XPX (laptop)
Ram: 2 gig, 400mhz
Video: ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 128meg
sigma tel audio c-major

Normal in game Latency is<=100ms

I have reloaded Win XP, and updated drivers. No effect.
I have placed all in game settings to minium for best performance. No effect.
I have experimented with Vid card settings. No effect.

and i still get single digit frames rates regardless of where i am at in the world (i.e. Lagforge or where ever)

any suggestions and helpfull advice is much appreiciated.

I dont know jack about Laptops , but the numbers look right , 2gig memory and such.

how fast is the cpu?
with 2g ram you shouldnt be playing from the swapfile so that wont be it.

sorry im not a lot of help :(

Heat issue maybe?

Sounds like heat issues imo... when things heat up you get major performace drops....

Everyone here knows im nuts about this speedswitch program but it works....

http://www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/
download the client run it and have it so your internal fans are runnning full tilt boogie when WOW is running... also a cooling pad with a couple fans will help also...

cpu is a 3.4 system

and i appriciate all the answers.

I thought it might be a heat issue also, but didn't want to put my opnion out there quite yet.

again thanks all

Aamaniac,

So, for us older computer dummies:

Fan Throttle Tolerance is currently set at 100%.
Forced Throttle is also set at 100%.

Given that the value is defined as the lower limit that the processor will be throttled down prior to engaging fans, this tells me that they will always be on....or should be. Correct?

Given this, I should be worried that one of the two fans in my laptop is not running, right?

Using a laptop you either have the AC(Plugged in) and Battery settings....

For AC have it set to Max Performance and the program will auto configure it self
For Battery have it set to Battery Optimized....

Max Performance will keep the fans running full speed at all time regardless of temp and work the machine is doing.....

Laptops generally manage fans as a on needed basis, where it (The Laptop) will sacrafice Performance to keep fan speeds low... At lest that's what I've learn with my Dell Laptop (P4 3.06GHZ,512MB RAM, 64MB Fx Go5200) and it runs WOW with out any preformance issues, looks good to the eye and very seldomly lags up....
