Hi

This is my first post and i am still a bit of a noob so please no flaming. What i want to know is why can i not transfer my lvl 40 paladin from a P v E server to my new realm which is a P v P server, because i have joined a clan and they are all playing on a PvP server so i want to join them, its just it seems a waste that my lvl 40 paladin will not be used again.

Because it is unfair for the players on the PVP realm who had to level up while being ganked. If you have never played on a PVP server, you dont understand the heartache it takes to get to UBRS at 9pm server time. Or attempting to level anywhere in STV or near Tarren Mill. I guaruntee I could knock almost 24 hours off my characters play time at 60 if I leveld him on a PVE server.

It raises an interesting question about the x-realm BGs then, Stigg... If you're saying it's 'easier' to level a character on a PvE realm (which I agree with), then why aren't the BGs divided into PvE BGs and PvP BGs?

I'll take "Why Blizzard couldn't care less" for 500, alex'

and on topic: you cant transfer the paladin to a pvp server, though titties, get over it.

BG's place you on equal footing, in that they automatically force PVP mode to be turned on...

PVE servers are carebear, in that you can level almost anywhere...PVP servers cause you to gain a sixth sense of sorts, watching your back in most places.

I'd like Blizz to level out the number of toons in each faction in the various battlegroups...They are still a bit lopsided in some groups, causing long waits (several hours) for a simple BG to start.

Well, it's a valid question. The fact is that PvE servers tend to have more toons with better gear, but PvP servers tend to have a playerbase who have the right instincts drummed into them. When you're questing on a PvP server, you develop excellent situational awareness and camera control, and tend not to panic as much when fights become chaotic.

At least, with the average PvPer with run of the mill gear, the ones from the PvP server will be something of a grizzled combat veteran, whereas a lot of players from PvE servers only experience PvP in BGs in any meaningful amount.

It's true that skill is, to a large extent, more important than gear- though obviously within bounds. An "ebay special" mage dripping with tier 3 doesn't need a lot of skill to one or two-shot a casual PvPer in predominately blue gear, and is a lot harder to kill than his/her conventionally equipped compadres, even when apparently asleep at the keyboard.

However, it all comes out nicely in the wash. I have characters from both factions, on PvE and PvP servers, and haven't noticed any hugely obvious trend in the cross-server battlegrounds, at least with PUGs. There is a problem with largely unskilled PvPers from Alliance raiding guilds who form premades for AB/WSG and just flatten everything by the sheer weight of their gear (hey, I have even been part of the problem in the past), and that makes life dull.

If there's a problem with BGs and balance at the moment, it's Alterac Valley. Since a recent patch removed a lot of NPCs and largely destroyed the need for tactics or co-ordination, Alliance are able to zerg the Horde general within minutes, and win almost unopposed, due to imbalances in the respective stronghold areas. It takes no skill, and it's very dull- I think it gets on my nerves more when I am playing Alliance than Horde even- since you know every victory is unearned and required no skill, the self-congratulatory gibbering of the under-twelves screaming about how hard they "r0xx" starts to become tedious rather quickly. Whichever faction I am playing, I miss the long, arduous epic battles, with their charges, flanking attempts, and stealth flag capping squads. Now it's just a really mindless I.W.I.N. button affair, and no fun any more.

Damnit, if I turn up with a bag full of shadow power pots or thorium shells, it's because I want to kick ass and take names- bask in the glory of a difficult victory, or go down fighting and die with honour. To win or lose in minutes automatically, depending on faction that I am playing really doesn't make AV much fun any more. It used to be my favorite BG, now I can hardly bear to play it.
