Simple question to those of you with experience: Is BWL fun?

yes

Ok, seriously now. Yes, BWL is fun, and a good deal more than MC. While MC is filled with bossfights that are largely similar (position the boss and adds, kill adds, kill boss while dispelling debuffs if need be), BWL does have more challenging encounters that are much more original (mindcontrolling razorgore, get unlimited mana at Vael, stay out of line of sight of Firemaw, Ebonroc heals if not tanked properly, chrommie breaths....The Nef fight is of truely epic proportions). The thrash is also a lot more interesting (and you dont have to fight any till after the second boss). Only downside of BWL is the suppression room (aka depression room), which requires you to kill fast while on the move, as the mobs are on a very short respawn timer. It's boring if you have to do it too often, but luckily the boss at the end of it is fairly easy.

BWL has been my second-favorite raiding experience in the game. It comes right behind ZG which I absolutely love because I can use all my skills like hibernate and roots.

Gets boring after your 20th time trhough. Trash pulls are what makes any instance boring though

Thanks for the responses everyone. I ask because my guild is wrapping up MC (just gotta bring down Rag...) and while I know there we be a period of farming MC and Ony, I have been reading up on BWL in preparation for heading there soon. From the boss strats I've read, the fights seem incredibly complex and I was just wondering if they are fun or if they are just frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind repeated wipes and whatnot, I just hope that the fights will be an enjoyable learning experience rather than a painful grind.

It's like potty Training. It gets messy sometimes, but once you get it, you dance around and clap with your shorts around the ankles! Then from there is just something you do...do.

Ya with me?

(I have a 2 1/2 year old learning to use the potty.)

You can look at it in this way.

harder encounters=harder work(more wipes perhaps)=much much greater feeling of success.

remember the feeling when you down Ragnaros, then multiply it by 5. thats how you will feel after downing nefarian :) or vael for that matter, as you will get chocked the first time he wipes the raid in 10 secs and then step by step.. "shudder"

And the 2nd time your raid is wiped in ten seconds, and the 3rd time your raid is wiped in 10 seconds

My guild has been working on Nef, and so far BWL has been a blast. I think my favorite part is the trash mobs because they're way more complex than MC trash.

Only frustration I have with BWL is that a lot of the boss fights are really dependent on one class. Kiters on Razor (whichever class you choose), warriors on Vael, Firemaw and Ebonroc, hunters on Flamegor and Chromaggus.

Just be prepared to wipe, A LOT. Razorgore and Vael are a brutal start to the instance (just have faith it gets easier). Broodlord isn't that hard once the lightbulb goes on for your healers that he really does hit hard. Firemaw is tough. Ebonroc, Flamegor and Chromaggus are comparatively all pretty easy.

Best of luck to you!

Wel i still hate raz with all my hart !
when learning it.
-its just to chaotic
-Its to much of a change from mc at once.
-u dont see any progress till u actually get him down
-I still feel some luck is involved.
-its boring for the people not kiting.

We got passed em in the end. but the 2 months of wiping broke up my old guild.
and although my new guild kinda has him on farm (first kill the one week. the other week it takes 5 tries) i still dont like the fight.

Vael can be a ***** to pass, but atleast its a fun fight :)
just wish mages would get something more usefull then a mana-regen in that fight. rogues get uba imba dps and we get to spend 1 less manastone :(

You could always try to switch from kiting to killing strategy.

I have found so far that BWL is super fun compared to the molten bore. It is hard and it is complex but that is what makes is fun. I personally love the fact that there is not a ton of repawning trash (ever wipe on domo and had the ss’ed pally to close to ss ><). Things like razorgore and the suppression rooms are fun, the raid has to think on its feet and work together as a team like no where else (pre bwl). So much better than the MC tank heal dps dps tank heal heal tank heal dps tank tank tank /wrist.

Vael will be a ***** you will need to have a guild with a lot of dedication to see the wipes thru. Just a little tip we read all the strat guides online and had everyone in the raid in max fr and were getting our head beat in, then on another guild on our servers advice we switched to everyone except for tanks wearing minumum fr gear and using pots, to pump up the dps. Second attempt like that we downed him and have been downing him ever since. None on the guides I could find online suggest this approach so ill just throw it out there for you to consider.

meh got a little OT but YES bwl (the parts I have done, as we are still working thru it) is a hundred times more fun than MC IMO.

BWL is very fun. If your guild is working through it, you will be forged into steel by the fires of that Place!

The fights are more technical then MC and a little more fun IMO. Your class really gets to do what it's meant to do, and have to overcome the weaknesess that are exploited. This instance was the first "lets see what your made of". It also requires that you work well in a team. Remember you don't have to like everyone, but you do have to work with them.

Our guild just downed Nef on Saturday after we cleared the other bosses Friday night. It was awesome.

We are still learning bwl but I've loved everything apart from the surpression room.

BWL is way fun except that a DPS warrior beat my roll by 2 for the only Chromie shield (I am MT). On the other hand I wish my slow poke new guild leader and officers would retort back to 4 raiding days (from 3 now), or finish BWL in one so that we can do more AQ/Naax
