View Full Version : 2 Questions - Hitting 60, and coordinates mod
First - I'm wondering what there is to do once you hit 60. I'm at level 44 now, so I've got a long way to go... but I was curious what there was to do once you hit 60 other than raid... I hear it's almost a new game. Are there lots of solo things I can do to improve my equipment and other stuff, or what exactly?
The second is - does anyone know of a good co-ordinate mod? One that shows you what co-ordinate you are on the map. I got one from here, and I like it... the problem is it hides a bunch of the stuff I really liked on the little map in the upper right corner. Like the region I'm in - and the time indicator and what not.

i'll let someone else field the mod one
as to lvl 60, in no particular order:
- quests: chances are, you still have quests you haven't completed. any quest you do that would deliver experience does not anymore (you are max lvl afterall), so instead you get a cash value equivalent (don't know the numbers, but I know I did recently a bunch of quests in Silithus I hadn't done before and got some 3-5 g for each one. plus you get to fill in whatever storyline you missed
- epic mount: once you are 60 you are eligible for an epic mount. paladins and warlocks can do a lenghty quest and get a "free" (as in, you still need to gather some mats and/or buy them on AH) mount. all others have to gather a bunch of gold
- another race's mount: to get a mount of your own race is no problem (say a gnome buying a mechanical chicken thing). but to get a mount of another race (gnome on a horse for example), you must get exalted reputation with them. this means doing quests that award reputation with that capital city.
- world PvP: Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands now have world PvP objectives you can participate in.
- battlegrounds PvP: queue up for Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, or Altarac Valley and fight in a 10v10, 15v15, or 40v40 matchup (in that order). Warsong Gulch is a capture the flag, first team to capture 3 wins. Arathi Basin is a king of the hill type game, 5 nodes, capture nodes, while a node is in your posesion your team gets "resources" every few seconds, first team to 2000 resources wins. Altarac Valley is a big "destroy the other base while not letting the other team destry your base" kind of a place. You can queue up from all the major capitals, though if you actualy hoof it to the BG entrance (in Ashenvale/Barrens for WSG, Arathi for AB, and Altarac for AV) you can also get some quests there and purchase rep rewards. And speaking of rep rewards, by playing in these battlegrounds you win over time reputation with the appropriate faction. Once your reputation is at a certain level you become eligible to buy certain items from said faction.
- Honor System: PvP anywhere and your ranking goes up. Each rank is eligible for buying certain items.
- Run Scholomance, Stratholme, and Blackrock Spire (lower and upper) to collect gear, especialy the so called Dungeon 1 set (Shadowcraft, Wildheart, Devout, Valor, etc...).
- Run Dire Maul, which, while it doesn't have any set items there, has a lot of items that individualy are quite a bit better. Plus, there is dancing Ogres, which is great.
- Upgrade your Dungeon 1 set to Dungeon 2. Quest for this starts in Ironforge throne room if you are aliance, or Thrall's throneroom if you are horde.
- Collect stuff for Darkmoone Faire and turn it in for tickets when they come to town. Then exchange the tickets for the items you want.
- Run Zul Gorub and Ruins of Ahn Quiraj for items, sets, reputation, and new spell ranks. ZG awards Zandalar faction which lets you buy stuff at the northernmost island in STV where Zandalar trolls live. AQ20 awards you Cenarion faction (and a bit of Brood of Nozdormu, I think) that lets you buy stuff from their base in Silithus.
- Grind Cenarion faction in Silithus for the rewards they offer by doing the quests they give in Silithus.
- Grind Argent Dawn faction in the plaguelands by doing their quests all over the plaguelands and killing Scourge.
- Become a Pirate by grinding Bloodsail faction by killing goblins (fair warning: the goblin towns pretty much become offlimits to you if you do this, and there is a lot of stuff there)
- Run Molten Core for so called Tier1 (Nightslayer, Felhart, Might, etc..) armor and various weapons and other items. Note that last boss drops Tier 2(see below) Pants.
- Run Onyxia for Tier 2 (see below) Helmets and various weapons and other items.
- Run Blackwing Lair for so called Tier2 (Bloodfang, Nemesis, Wrath, etc..) armor and various weapons and other items.
- Fight Lord Kazzak, a raid encounter in the southern Blasted Lands (not in an intstance).
- Fight Azuregos, a raid encounter in Azshara (not instanced).
- Fight the 4 corrupted green dragons at the 4 Emmerald Dream portals (Ashenvale, Hinterlands, Feralas, Darkshire) (not instanced).
- Run The Temple of Ahn Quiraj for so called Tier 2.5 armor sets, plus various other weapons and armor.
- Run Naxxramas for so called Tier 3 armor sets, plus various other weapons and armor.
- Collect gear with Fire Resist atributes which you will need a lot of in MC and BWL, and one encounter in Naxx.
- Collect gear with Shadow Resist atributes which you will need depending on your class in some encounters in BWL, Lord Kazzak, AQ40, and Naxx.
- Collect gear with Nature Resist atributes which you will need in AQ40 and Naxx.
- Collect gear with Frost Resist atributes which you will need in last 2 fights in Naxx.
- Level up your professions (mining, engineering, tailoring, enchanting, etc...). Try to get all the recipes you can for your character.
- Try out various talent builds for a few weeks each and find what works for you best.
- Explore all the zones fully.
- See how much money you can make via playing the Auction House.
- Get reputation with Thorium Brotherhood for them to teach you certain crafting techniques.
- Start an alt. Or two. Or three. :D If you've never played aliance, try it. If you've never played horde, try it.
Wow, someone should definitely sticky this. This was really helpful and since my first main char that I actually got over lvl50 with, I was also wondering what there was to do at 60, I knew about dungeons, but I didn't understand Tier X gear and such. Thanks!

Okay I have 2 60's that haven't acomplished too much. (Now that I'm in a raiding guild, it's changing). Non-raiding guild = difficult progress on the below.
So with out a further ado my comments on the above:
as to lvl 60, in no particular order:
1. quests: Ok Money - You could wait for the expansion and help level that way...
2. epic mount: It's a lot of Gold. There are a million things at 60 that cost you alot.
3. another race's mount: If you have the money thing figured out...and you have to collect stuff, go fo it. (Then again there is a million things that yuo have in your bags and bank anyways. FR Gear, Back-up gear, Regeants, etc.)
4. world PvP: Or while you are on your way to/ or questing in those areas...one more reason to be ganked.
5. battlegrounds PvP: Kind of like being a flag football player in the NFL.
6. Honor System: Reason to gank lowbies
7. Run Scholomance, Stratholme, and Blackrock Spire (lower and upper) to collect gear, especialy the so called Dungeon 1 set (Shadowcraft, Wildheart, Devout, Valor, etc...): This is where you learn about statistics and the Gamblers falacy. (Okay I ran UBRS about 100 times and still do not have my Devout Chest Piece...if I run it one more time I'm sure to get it!)
8. Run Dire Maul: What is that? (Actually cool loot, hard to get people to go)
9. Upgrade your Dungeon 1 set to Dungeon 2. Quest for this starts in Ironforge throne room if you are aliance, or Thrall's throneroom if you are horde. (see the top of the post...) See #2
10. Collect stuff for Darkmoone Faire and turn it in for tickets when they come to town. Then exchange the tickets for the items you want. See #3
11. Run Zul Gurub and Ruins of Ahn Quiraj for items, sets, reputation, and new spell ranks. See #7 and be ready to wait to turn in your gear if when you get it...which depends on your Guilds raid schedule.
12. Grind Cenarion faction in Silithus for the rewards they offer by doing the quests they give in Silithus. See #4
13. Grind Argent Dawn faction in the plaguelands by doing their quests all over the plaguelands and killing Scourge. See #4
14. Become a Pirate by grinding Bloodsail faction by killing goblins (fair warning: the goblin towns pretty much become offlimits to you if you do this, and there is a lot of stuff there) Laugh and see #4
15. Run Molten Core for so called Tier1 (Nightslayer, Felhart, Might, etc..) armor and various weapons and other items. Note that last boss drops Tier 2(see below) Pants. See #7
16. Run Onyxia for Tier 2 (see below) Helmets and various weapons and other items. (run?, you walk in and spank)See #7
17. Run Blackwing Lair for so called Tier2 (Bloodfang, Nemesis, Wrath, etc..) armor and various weapons and other items. (So called, is called) See Top of the post then read #7.
18-20. Fight Lord Kazzak, Fight Azuregos, Fight the 4 corrupted green dragons a raid encounter. (not in an intstance). See Top of the post then read #4.
21. Run The Temple of Ahn Quiraj for so called Tier 2.5 armor sets, plus various other weapons and armor. #11
22. Run Naxxramas for so called Tier 3 armor sets, plus various other weapons and armor. See top #2,7
23. Collect gear with Fire Resist atributes which you will need a lot of in MC and BWL, and one encounter in Naxx. See #3 and #7
24. Collect gear with Shadow Resist atributes which you will need depending on your class in some encounters in BWL, Lord Kazzak, AQ40, and Naxx. See #23
25. Collect gear with Nature Resist atributes which you will need in AQ40 and Naxx. See #24
26. Collect gear with Frost Resist atributes which you will need in last 2 fights in Naxx. See # 25
27. Level up your professions (mining, engineering, tailoring, enchanting, etc...). Try to get all the recipes you can for your character. See #1-7
28. Try out various talent builds for a few weeks each and find what works for you best. See #2
29. Explore all the zones fully. See #4-6 (I dare you to "drop in" on the opposing factions "leaders" for a spot of tea.)
30. See how much money you can make via playing the Auction House. Click above on search type - KCMA
31. Get reputation with Thorium Brotherhood for them to teach you certain crafting techniques. Check a database system to see if your proffesion lines up with what they have to offer.
32 Start an alt. Or two. Or three. :D If you've never played aliance, try it. If you've never played horde, try it. Read all over Again.
Actually I only knock it cause this thing is good. Should be a new post and stickied. (After a few others take cracks at it!)
IMHO being 60 is tough. Guilds are really important. You can do the other "non-guild stuff" but make a plan and stick to it. (It can be overwhelming at times.)
