View Full Version : Need Help on How to make Gold

I don't get how some people can make 100 gold in an hour. What's their secret? I did try the AH trick where you buy something cheap and then resell it for a larger price but.... no luck. Nobody bought it, I retried over and over and all I lost was money from posting it up.
I thought of grinding elite scarlet mobs in that place at Eastern Plaguelands. I got plenty of silver but it was so aggravating. I got about 20 gold after several hours but I was so exhausted and had about 4 stacks of conjured food to do it.
Then I thought of running RFK over and over to kill Ramtusk. But... getting 1 gold every two times killing him didn't sound really fun.
Can anyone help me how to get gold really fast and in large amounts? It's tough trying to get money without a guild.

First off: What Class are you and how is your gear / skill?
I can down the mobs in Tyrs Hand fast enough for it to be efficient so i like that place. Also, The blackrock orc camp in NW Burning Stepps is nice. You get about 100 Runecloth / 1-3Greens / 35-50 Dark Iron Scraps / 3-6G in Vendor Trash / 7-10g in just coin pick up PER HOUR! (Depending on how fast you can down the mobs) There is also 3 chest spawns here, which i have gotten a blue item out of once, but normally hold about 1.5-2g in vendor junk. The mobs drop quite easily imo. Herbalism makes fast / easy cash, and takes no time to lvl up.
If your not in the mood to farm/grind, Strat Live is my fav money making instance. Lots of Tier0 Pieces seem to drop, + 2-3 Orbs (40G each on my server) Along with vendor crap, Bone frags, Runecloth, and 1.5-4g in coin pick up.
Hope this helps some.

on my server, a really good way to make cash is to farm SFK for wool, and the rare assasination blade to drop ( lvl 19 twink rogue weapon of choice )
Usualy put stack sof wool on the AH for 1g10s each, and pretty much every stack is sold the next day.
RFD is another good moneymaker, killing the bosses and disenchanting the blues into small radient shards. ( another one for the twinks wanting fiery enchants ) a stack of them has sold for 50g in the past, but I guess this would differ depending on how many twinkers are about on your realm. Also posting enchanting materials on the AH doesnt cost cash as far as i know, so if they dont sell at first, just keep re-posting them
High lvl herbalism is a gold mine, silversage, gromsblood and wintersbite usualy sell pretty fast, to be used in flasks and other high lvl alchemy stuff.
Mining can be pretty good cash, but it depends on the amount of bots on the realm. On the server my mate plays ion, buying thorium on the AH is pretty much the only way to get it since the farmers are camping spots 24/7.
Farming the mobs in the 2 closest feilds to the bulwark in WPL can be pretty good, with afew grey drops that sell for 1g+, a fair bit of runecloth and the cash drops arnt too bad.
There is no sure fire way of gaining incredible amounts of cash really fast ( that are public or not breaches of the ToS anyway )
Put on some good music, find a good grind spot and sit there for a couple of hours. You forget your grinding cash, and take a look at the total gained at the end and realise it all adds up quickly when your not thinking too much about it.
Edit: i r prO spellar

Herbalism makes a fair ammount of money, though not really the kind of sum you are thinking of.
You also have to run around in circles a lot, for quite a while each day to really build up herbs worth selling.

I think it's been proven however that some people just aren't suited to playing the AH well and KCMA himself has an economy on his hands that isn't friendly for playing the AH.
I made a lot of gold fairly quick on the AH but them my economy went down the toilet just like KCMA's and there is rarely anything worth bidding on. In my market it isn't even worth disenchanting greens because the armor market is so inflated.
You have to be able to look at your own economy and see what works. Right now the best way for me to make money right now is fishing the bay of storms. Selling stonescale eels as well as whatever comes out of the chests... usually blots of fabric, leather and greens to disenchant (I still disenchant most greens I find because even though the armor market is inflated it's also unpredictable... so all I will put up in the way of greens is like "of the monkey", "of the eagle" or "of the bear" which generally sells well.

success of AH farming is pretty much irrelevant to economy tho. sure, you make less gold on AH when economy sucks.
BUT, you make even less gold farming. took you an hour to farm 5 essence of fire? and they used to sell for 10g each. and now they're worth 3g? ur income is just reduced form 50g/hour to 15g/hour. when economy sucks it sucks for everyone :)

Nah there are niche items that always have a market. Like Dreamfoil because raiding guilds are always making flasks and major mana pots. Essences never seem to flucutate much on my server either. But those things are also almost never underpriced (at least when I've checked). The bottom fell out of the cloth market on my server and I don't really feel like manipulating a resource that is so easily replenished. I'd have cloth coming out of my ears trying to control the price. Heavy and Rugged Leather is being controlled by what appears to be a 3 person alliance. BoE blues won't sell for crap. I have a level 43 ax with high dps +23 strength and +1% chance to hit and cant sell it to save my life which I simply can't figure out. And BoE greens are all way over priced with a ton of people constantly bidding on the underpriced ones so if you aren't getting in when the auctions are on short you're not going to win on a bid. There just isn't any real room at the moment to do anything on the AH. You may get a couple things per day worth relisting and they aren't guaranteed to be big time profit.
Although describing my economy I just came up with an idea... since the bottom fell out of the enchanting dust markets I'm gonna buy a bunch up and use it to enchant all the leather that I fished out of the bay of storms. That'll turn a nice profit for me.
well, someone's controlling price on essence and dreamfoil.
crappy economy hits raiding guild too. and they'll also have less money which drives down teh demand. someone is definitely there keeping the price out of natural supply vs demand.

you have to be on a relatively new server i think to use kcma's method. on my server ( been there since the beginning ) you hardly ever see anything offered cheaper than what turned out to be the "standart price".
herbs, cloth, shards, essences, all these items are in the AH whit the maximum difference of 50 silver from one or two players, rest is so fix, it smells like they all talked to eachother and agreed on one price. the only thing that has little price changes in it are BoE epics.
nah not true at all, look at how much gold wesje has ;)
the gold is always there to be made :p of course with all that pessimisim and self-doubt you might not make it far :)

I had 50 gold. Decided to buy an epic mount. (Getting bored of my warlock epic mount.) Next Tuesday I brought on for me and for my girlfriend. AH farming is silly easy to make on money on.
if u can buy epic mount with 50g, you pwn <3

Hehe! Maybe I made myself unclear. I read up on your AH grinding techniques. Interesting I thought. I started with 50 gold. 1 week later I was buying 2 epic mounts with money leftover to spare. :D
ah... well that would've been really cool if u bought epic mounts with 50g :D i was hoping i can do that too...

Bartering Skills 300/300 pwn your AH Trading Skills 300/300 :P
Only because somebody claims (and maybe can do it) that he makes 100 gold per hour doesn't mean we all can do it.
There I times where I make 10-25 and I am happy. Only because I disenchant stuff and maybe get 10 greater eternal essences from the stuff that technically sells for 50 gold..I am still not making that money ^^

I'm actually a bit bored trying to make more money...there is little my toon will ever need off of the AH anymore, except for mats to make flasks to make yet more money....Once you hit 1K, the fun is gone...heh...and that was several months ago.
I came up with my own trick: sell on credit, but with no interest (I basically trust people to pay me back in a couple of weeks, after putting like half down)- I also beat any other prices in 99.9% of cases.
Equipped half of the alliance with arcanite reapers and heartseekers, even if recently I sold more bloodsoul armor...Toying with the idea of crafting Nightfall now (but not sure if I want to spent 7000g to get exalted with TB in a rush, before the expansion).
This trick has served me since I was level 40 (to get mounts for me and friends) and later on to pay for elementium for Thunderfury or help the guild raids, friends etc. Also to support mysef as main tank. Must have made over 20000 in gold, still have like 8000 in reserve. Got lucky basically.
Funniest thing was to be interviewed by some game designers who wanted to find out if people are really honest and pay back (they are).

I loaned a almost-friend 40g for a spell book after we did some instances and he helped me with getting my epic mount quest. He has yet to pay me back and is ignoring me.
(I tell each of his guild leaders about this tale and he has got kicked out of 3 guilds so far)
I guess I am about 1000 times luckier then you :)

I posted a little something something in the Proffesions Section. Take a looksie. I owe a nod to KCMA for his part.
Ok, I'll look, but meanwhile, tell me, what do you think about selling on credit? It worked like a charm for me...

Made about 250+ gold my first week using KCMA's guide. Now the flow of money is dying down. Cant get anything to sell, bought ardent custodian for 30g and axe of the deep woods for 90g cant seem to sell them for way below what they are worth....

I found a really nice guide the other day. It's not complete yet, but it had ways to make gold for all levels. Gave a list of where to fish, and how to earn gold by disenchanting and tailoring. Hope this helps!
