Well this is a pretty major change in 1.12.1, Blizzard got rid of skills like Horse Riding, Tiger Riding and etc. and instead put in a new skill called Riding Skill that goes up to 150.

On the Euro forums an explanation was given by a player. I deleted parts that were said to be different by Hortus though.

Mounts

Mounts now require only one, shared riding skill (blue mounts require level 75, epic mounts, level 150). Also costs of learning this skill are now significally increased. Previously, cost of learning riding skill was 20 gold for each kind of mount, without any discount. Now it will be 90 gold for level 75 and 900 for level 150. Level 150 of riding skills is required for epic mounts.

In addition to the change of riding skills, the costs of Blue and Epic faction mounts has been significally decreased. Now blue mounts costs 10 gold and epic mounts costs 100 gold.

All prizes are given without discounts, you can get maximum discount of 20% for Honored reputation and Sergeant rank.

Note: Listed changes are active on Test realm at 14th September and may change during the test, until they go live in other realms.

What impact does this have on cross-race mounts?

And what about the Warlock/Paladin horses? I think now it's easier to just buy the horses then to complete these quests, isn't it?

And the big question is : of those changes go live, what will happen to players who already got their mounts ?

Edit : oops,answer was in Drysc's post

For current players with mounts there will be a seamless transition to the new system. You will continue to have your mount; you will continue to be able to use it, etc. What this change does for players who don't yet have a mount or an epic mount is take the emphasis off of the mount itself, and put it on the riding skill. This helps give players access to more variety without requiring a large monetary investment if they, for instance, just want to pick a different colored horse.

Really curious to what will happen to players that have a mount, but no riding skill yet...

At lvl 29 I made sergeant and honored with TB. Since I won't be able to PvP much in the coming few weeks (at least not enough to stay sergeant), I already bought my kodo mount (while I had the 20% discount) to save some gold.

If things go bad, I might have to reach deeply into my wallet again just to be able to ride it.......

Anyone knows when this will go live? Might be able to hit 40 before that (32 now)....
