I've recently bought a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. I couldn't really afford anything better.

There are the specs:

Processor: Intel® CoreT Duo Processor T2050 (1.6GHz 2MB L2 Cache 533Mhz FSB)

Memory: 1GB (2x512MB)

HDD: 60GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)

Graphic Card: Intel® GMA 950 shared graphics memory up to 128MB (>.<;)

I know it'll probably run, and the biggest downer is the GPU. I'm just interested if anyone else has a similar sytem and are able to play World of Warcraft with relatively decent fps.

I'm not the most computer savvy of people, but I'd really love to be able to play this game with little problems.
Any info you guys could give me would be great, thanks. :)

I seem to recall a place you can download the game, and play for ten days with no charge...

Try it...

I did. But it's not working (I'm in the UK.) Fileplanet etc. are for US only I think.

So, you have the client, and the client isn't working?

Hmmmm....Not sure where to get a UK client.

I tried to get the 10 day trial through the EU wow site, but it keeps coming up with ''This service is currently unavailable, please try again later.'' It's apparently been like that for over a week.. :|

I don't have a client atm, no.

I s'pose if anyone knew where I could get a us trial version I'd try it, just to see if WoW worked ok with this laptop.

That EU client ought to work. Not sure, if it also contains the EU trial key procedure, but if you have WoW installed on your desktop, then you can just use that client, use the pre-existing account option, patch it up and away you'd go.

that's the one I tried. It's still saying the service is unavailable. I even looked on the msg boards to see why, but nothing has been said by Blizzard. Which, unfortunately seems to happen alot. :|

thank you anyway.

EDIT: I'm gonna try the US one on fileplanet anyway. I'll update here to let you know how it went.
EDIT2: Nevermind. I'm not paying for a fileplanet subscription. D:

You don't need a subscription to dl it, you just need to be a registered user. There is a difference and a lot of folks make that same mistake.

Mind you, you'd still need a US account key in order to make the account to test it out with. That's not something included with the client.

Oh, that's weird. 'Cause I created an account and tried to d/l it. Then it told me that only FP subscribers could d/l that specific client. o.0

Crap it, nevermind I'm blind. :|

I'm in the que now, lol.

thanks alot btw, for your help and patience.. lol.

Eh, I made nearly the same mistake myself, when I downloaded my OB account way back when. Had the same issues, but then I'm a stubborn one and I kept fiddling with the various options till I figured it out. Not everyone has that type of patience, can't say I blame them either, it is rather annoying to say the least.

Run this program on your laptop which will tell you how well your laptop will run WOW....

Post your results and get back to me... I might be able to offer some suggestions on tweak and other possibilities to get your lappy to run as best as it can ^_^

I failed the recommended with my videocard, passed the rest though.

How bad did you fail?
Did you have any bars on the video card requirements?

I got a pass on the videocard for minimum. And in the recommended, the only one I failed was the videocard. (Don't have vertex shaders or the HW transform and lighting..)

EDIT: Which is 3 bars btw. Lol.

I'm thinking of getting a laptop with the same kind of video card as spoonage.
So how do you think its gonna run using the min specs for the video card and not having the recommended specs?

Well, I can tell you now. It ran the game perfectly well.
I do get the occassional slackage in fps in high populated areas on full res. I tend to keep it on a lower res (still ws.)

Just so you know, your videocard doesn't seem to be the main factor in playing this game. You should concentrate on cpu and RAM.

Better Videocards are just a bonus.
