View Full Version : Can't login to WoW or go to website - Canada

Hey,
Can't seem to access the WoW website, nor can I login to my WoW account. Well, I can, but as soon as it says "Success!" I'm pretty much stuck there. It doesn't go on to retrive character list or anything. If I click cancel, it attempts to retrieve the realm list, but it gets stuck there too. When I try to access the WoW website's forums, support, realmstatus, anything... it just doesn't go there.
I'm living in Toronto using Rogers. People on my guild vent from the states seem to be accessing it fine, except for one who had a problem earlier which was fixed with a restart. I have restarted my router, my internet connection, and my computer, none of which work. I am able to access the Public Test Server's character selection screen, but cannot load the game when I select my character.
Is anyone else having any problems along these lines?
Thanks

Might want to try some of the stuff mentioned here (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=376968). And keep an eye on that thread for further developments, or pitch in if you feel like it. Could be the same issue.

Hm... thanks for the link but I'm not experiencing similar problems to that poster. I very rarely experience lag, and when I do everyone is experiencing it as well (no matter the geographical location). My download speeds range from 4500 in CA to almost 5000 with NY - I don't think this is the problem. The connection seems to stop communicating with WoW after it has verified my password. I do not receive "Unable to Connect" or anything, it just stays at success and waits.

Same problem here, Rogers internet in Mississauga, got booted about 3hours ago and the exact same thing is happening, its getting stuck at "Succeeded!" and then it hangs there. No speed or latency issues prior to that. Anyone else? maybe its rogers ISP

Anyone using DSL in the Toronto area can verify that it's only rogers?
Well I'm having the same exact problem with Rogers and I thought it was my router since I just got a new one recently. I guess we should try calling rogers support or something.

Same problem with me, Rogers cable, in Toronto. Internet works fine otherwise. I was on WoW about 4 hours ago no problem, this happened around 3pm (EST). Has anyone called Rogers? Anyone using another connection method in the area please advise if you can get on? I connected directly modem to comp bypassing the router and after resetting network I get the same problem.
Thanks

Hey can anyone help me out to understand this - Everything works, I have tried tons of sites and even another MMORPG and they all work fine. Cannot get to any WoW official website and can't even access www.blizzard.com - and of course still stuck at the SUCCESS! screen after entering my password (I read elsewhere that this happened to someone in March 2006) and they left it for 15 mins and it went through, I have left it there for 30 and nothing.
Why would this happen? I mean why would what something Rogers do effect only Blizzard?

And here's the update: Spoke with some girl called Pamela. They are already well aware of the issue and have had several calls regarding it. They themselves are able to connect to the WoW website, however several of their customers can't and they are currently calling Blizzard to work things out. Looks like we just have to wait.
That is really odd for an ISP to have problems connecting with Blizzard. Looks like there are couple other WoW geeks too who need to play too

I just got off the phone with Blizzard and spoke to Edward. He's told me to run a tracert. I have and will be sending it to them to help...any little bit helps, right?
..either that or I'm about to be a victim of identity theft.

Any updates? It doesn't take this freakin' long to help someone connect. I haven't been able to connect since 2pm, you'd think 5.5 hours of work would fix such a simple issue. Hey, how 'bout they call up their competitors and find out what they're doing right?

another rogers user here from mississauga, exact same problem.

So...
Here's my latest. After speaking to both parties (Blizzard and Rogers) it appears that the path is losing packets along the way to Blizzard. We are connecting to Blizzard, but we can't make the final connection attempt needed to play or get on the website.
They have both told me that they are aware of the problem and that each of them are working to resolve it..... stop me when you know this one.

Yeah im another one that is in Mississauga using Rogers, exact same issue. At first I thought it was WoW, lol, like usual, but I slowly started to figure out it wasnt them. Well Im little happier at least knowing where the issue lies. I am currently running trace routes and everything seems fine ( I think) Im averaging 128ms to thier front door Hop16, Hop 17 is blank which is usually thier Server firewall if I remember correctly. Any having the same results with thier Trace Routes??

Yes I tried it too and it goes to hop16 and that's it, after that it is 100% packet loss....oh well hopefully it will be back up after maintenance tonight, I don't have high hopes for anytime today.

Still no change on playing game BUT some change: the loader used to say "Cannot connect to news - try again later" It now shows the news and community updates. Also I CAN connect wo blizzard.com but CANNOT connect to worldofwarcraft.com.
Progress at least....

The loader is back to saying "Cannot connect to news - try again later".
Tried calling Rogers tech support; gave up after half hour, having gone through a series of automated choices.
They clearly do not want to put the money out for good service.
I understand Sympatico is working; are they any better overall?
The hope of progress was dashed.

HMM I still get the news and updates at the loader, but like you said hopes are looking dim for now....Not sure if Blizzard or Rogers are to blame. :ponder:

Guess they're both to blame  since people using other ISP's don't seem to be complaining and other internet services don't seem to have been affected on my computer.
Didn't realize I was that addicted. :embarassed:

I to live in Toronto and use Rogers as an ISP. I was unable to connect to blizzard.com , battle.net and worldofwarcraft.com. In the past few mins i have been able to connect to battle.net and blizzard.com but its very unstable. I hope this problem is fixed soon as it has been annoying dealing with the customer service reps of both blizzard and rogers.:wink2: <-- thats an angry twitch.
In new news, Since i have 3 computers in the house. My brother who is using a different modem model then me .. is having no issues connecting to the website or game.. pretty ****ed up if you ask me.

This is very coincidental...
I am also living in Toronto, and I also use Rogers as my ISP.
I also get stuck at the "Success" screen during authentication.
Perhaps it's time for me to give Rogers tech support a call.

Etobicoke Rogers here.
I tried pretty much all night to get on, was even worried at one point it might be something more serious considering all my guildies were on okay...
The thread eased my concerns... Thanks :D
Plugged in the wow website on a lark at 2:30AM EST and it came up real quick as did the game.
So sounds like issue solved.

but my server's offline now
unless they are somehow linked?

I'm really curious what fixed it.

Seems to be fixed... then again it is the next morning, and there is maintenance now. Ah well, off to work.

Yeah your server is down just for the weekly maintenance. I haven't tried as I went to bed at midnight last night and at work now but it sounds like everything is good to go after the maintenance is finished that is.
I never thought there would be so many people who live in the GTA AND use Rogers AND look at these forums AND would post where there was a problem. Cool community - we should start our own guild!
