View Full Version : Easiest instance? (and a couple of questions too)
First of all, what is the difference between an instance and a raid? Secondly, how is the loot split between party members?
Anyways, if thats sorted out, which would be the easiest instance/raid, as I have never done this sorta thing before. Every instance people talk about are 40 man ones(is there a restriction for nr. of players?) with lvl 60 chars. So do I need a lvl 60 char anyways to take part in an instance?
Thanks.

An instance is a place only accesible through an instance portal, and can only have a set amount of players who must be in the same group. If the players aren't in the same group but enter the same portal, they will make seperate instances.
A raid is a group of over 5 players. Raids get much less xp for kills and won't get credit for killing / collecting things for non-raid quests.
Basically, there's two types of instances: group instances for 5 players, and raid instances for 10/20/40 players.
Loot rules are decided by the group / raid leader. The choices are group loot (looting goes on a round, items over a set rarity get rolled on), free for all (FFA, everyone can loot everything) and master loot (ML, the leader decides who gets the loot).
There's instances all the way from RFC (level 14-17, in Orgrimmar) and DM (level 18-21, in Westfall) up to level 60 instances. There are only raids at level 60, however.
Easiest instance... well, RFC would be easiest, however this is the first instance Horde enteres, and so few know what to do in a group. As you get higher level, the instances become harder, but players are more skilled.
i'd say stocakde is easiest <3

stockades for lower lvls.
on lvl60 DiM east is easy as, just ur average pull kill pull kill.
hardest 5man lvl60 is strat UD side , the part where the gauntlet starts. Big big square filled with gargs and ghouls, toss in a few spiders and banshees and u got urself a certain wipe on a **** pull.
Also a hard one is LBRS, for the 'its so crowded damn im also fkin lost' factor

I thought you could do deadmines with a 10-man raidgroup as well??
Never found >5 ppl willing to do that though :)
u cant raid lowbie instances anymore, used to be able to. use to be able to 40men anything.

UD strat seems pretty easy to me, I rarely wipe there even with pugs.
Live strat seems to be the problem, adds in teh bastion and the AOE pulls in the beginning.
Also the boss MC can raise havoc.

Love tanking strat UD
MF makes pulling easy, and the ghouls are in groups of three just waiting to be swiped
Also a hard one is LBRS, for the 'its so crowded damn im also fkin lost' factorNothing beats ST for "im fkin lost" factor
After 6 times through the instance I knew the place, to the relief of all the ST groups I've been in since
I'd still say RFC is easier than stockades... you even have runners there, doesn't take much to get them all down on you with an inattentive group.

ST - You get lost in a round room? GO STAND IN THE CORNER!
BRD - I only get lost when people try to do 3 different quests in the million different parts. ("Hey if we make a left here...we can do XYZ...lol")
have u ever gotten lost in stockade? ;)

Easiest? Stockades by far.
Gayest? Uldaman(Impossiable for a standard group that level)
Sunken Temple (You gotta clear all the way around, many people hate it as much as me, but the difference is, they leave after mini boss's gg

I hate st with a passion. BRD is annoying. Uldaman is dumb.
I have always found DM to be quite simple and straight forward. SM is the same.

I think RFK was a very easy/short instance.

easiest? - rfc
dumbest? - uldaman
worst layout? - ST
lamest? - BFD (this place SUCKS)
biggest pita - gnomer (i just hate that place)
Favorite? - DM (not VC... and how could you not love this place? best designed..period.)

the easier i would say rfd as an ally we are all very care full its a long run back.
i love strat and scholo dont find them a drag at all but im a pally so i finaly get to use by ablities in a instace (excluding sm gy as i have never actual ran that or seen a lfg for sm gy) so those to may seem harder for the horde side with out pallys
hardest with a pug would be mara as its long and hose green blog really hurt that silly rouge that runs in there lol. the boss' are okay its the trash mobs that i find are hard as i think it would be one of he first times healers really understand silance in those narrow corridors :)

BFD really isnt that bad, and its really the first instance for a night elf...its just kind of a pain in the ass since it says level 24-36 and you get it when youre an 18. the 2nd to last boss in the instance is by far the hardest, as we have the small problem of all the creatures that spawn after and swarm you

Also the boss MC can raise havoc.
Really? When I ran MC the only bosses that gave my group any form of problem were the first two snake bosses (I forgot the names, but they weren't Domo.) One was practically a mage and blinked, unleashed arcane explosions, then went back to beating on our MT. The other one had four healers. Aside from Rag, those were our only whipes.
I agree with Uldaman being a (#*@*#$ of an instance. When I went through that instance the entire way, I did it ten man. I never set foot in Uldaman again after that. Gnomer is also a pistol. I remember killing Mechatorque and again, never setting foot in the instance again.
Even though I'm a Nelf, I never did go through BFD... Never could get a group to stay togather long enough.
BRD is a pain because you have to come back and do it SOO MANY DANG TIMES.
Strat's fun (I miss 10 man strat though I did a 10 man strat when I was 51). Scholo's fun. DM's fun. UBRS and LBRS are fun.

Dumbest / Hardest / Lamest - Gnomer
How many times during the last stretch to the boss have someone gotten to close to an edge, aggro'd one guy down below, and had 100+ mobs destroy your group in the blink of an eye, ONLY to rez back at the beginning to have the entire instance respawned by that time?
And its impossible at the lowest levels, and not worth the time/xp/loot at the higher levels, as SM is available.
Gnomer is a cool looking instance, but other than that, the worst in the game by far.

Strat's fun (I miss 10 man strat though I did a 10 man strat when I was 51). Scholo's fun. DM's fun. UBRS and LBRS are fun.
I remember doing a 10-man raids on LBRS for blues about 2 months ago. That was a blast. Non-stop pulls - bodies everywhere and lots of drops for everyone. Poor bosses never had a chance.

personally i think easyest instance:
lowbie horde: tie, ragefire chasim and wc
lowbie alliacne: deadmines
grather then lvl 20,less then lvl 50 instance: ZF, st is pretty easy
55-60:im nto sure, but probly scholomance
the differences:
dungeon is theplace rightbefore the instance portal....elites, usually no bosses, crappy drops...basiaclly "trashmobs"... insaide the portal is the real good stuff
instance=1man-40 man
"raid" i guess is more then 5 people going into a instance.... like mc is usually done w/30-40 people( my guild did it w/ 23, diditn kill rag that time though)

First time Ive tried any instance was this weekend - lvl 31 Dwarf Hunter with bear.
Easiest by far = Deadmines.
Harder = Stockade
Even harder = Gnomegron
I tried all of them solo. Deadmines I got quite far, in Stockade I can clear some of the first rooms either side and the entrance corridor then get problems and in Gnomegron I managed to kill only about 6. Technically I could do all of them but when 2 or more come at you at once then I was in trouble.
I tried Stockade with a friend too afterwards and that went much easier, although we still died a couple of times - and its a long run from the graveyard!

Chunderpants... you're not supposed to do instances solo :-)
Deadmines would be very easy for you, since it is designed for people around lvl 17-20.

I have no friends!
Well actually I have one - a very good one, whom I have played with for years, but never ever met face to face, through UT2004, UT2007, Need For Speed, HL2DM, Guild Wars, and now WoW.
The only people who seem to invite me into groups seem to be - lets be honest here - stupid (dont know how to control agro, selfish, etc), and I decline all invites so far into guilds as they all have come from someone I have never played with - completely random, so it strikes me they just want either help or to make up the numbers.
Sure there are many nice people about Im sure, its just they dont seem to come past me lol. So I know they arent supposed to be solo'd but you have to do what you can - and you wouldnt believe the amount of quests I have outstanding because I cant do them solo!
I dont think Im unusual in this though.

easiest by far would be deadminds, on alliance side, then stockades or shadowfang keep....gnomer is a pain in the ass and SM library isnt too bad... as a 37 rogue ive been soloing all these since 34....the only ones worth going through seem to be SM and shadowfang as far as items you get, deadmines was good when i was a squishy 17-20 with a group of two or three more, and was great when i hit 21 with poisons with 4 other rogues...the dps was crazy...i was sword spec as was one other rogue and the other three were dagger sub spec, so it would go like this, two of them go into the room sap at the same time for vc, when van cleef came out a little they would ambush him, the other two vanish then catch him with two ambushes and the two sword rogues just desimated him...takes about 20-40 seconds to destroy the great van cleef, and then run it over and over until everyone got defias armor, cape, and cruel barb....we'd usually just stealth all the way through most of it stopping for bosses and the ship...took 15 minutes each time :cloud9:

IF anybody wants to go to WC with me as fangless(19 mage) or skizz(18 hunter) just let me know and i will go.
Both characters are on the server Hakkar.
I can get a high lvl char. to help if we have to but i prefer not to it gives less xp than if you do with other chars. around your lvl, just post me if you want to and give your characters name and when you want to.

Is it just me? Or is WC like a giant maze? It asstounds me everytime i make an alt*Horde side* and end up running WC, I always end up getting lost as hell. I usually just have a higher character run me through, brother, guildmate, RL friend, ect.. and none of them ever remember how to navigate through it. But for being a lowbie instance, it seems to be very confusing. Granted it is a really really easy instance mob wise, but it just has always seemed like a big wet maze to me.

WC is confusing, even as a higher level nelf druid I sometimes get confused getting to verdant the everliving.
When I was in my 30's verdant almost wiped me when I tried soloing WC because of how hard he hits.
Stocks is both the easiest and dumbest, whats the point? There is almost nothing good to come of stocks unless you have the quests.
Gnomer is completely confusing, I had never made it to Mekinger at lower levels but did have the workshop key so the other night I took a few low levels through the back door and went off to kill him within 15 minutes, I tanked all of the mobs as needed and dpsed in cat form when not needed.
DM is fun and easy but can be tricky when you get to the first goblin area.
I did RFK solo the other night and that was fun, I would just pull 5 mobs at once and swipe them to death as my rage built. I did almost die once when my computer froze up though.
