I don't think rogues should be able to pick locks and pickpocket people: I think taht everybody should be able to train that as a profession. It would be called Theft or something. It would be a primary profession, but self-supporting.

Unfortunately, by lore, only a rogue won't mind pick your pockets or pick your locks. And only a rogue can go stealth and HAS hands, so only they can logically pick your pockets clean.

something tells me that a warrior would have trouble pickpocketing with plate mail gauntlets on...as opposed to a rogue with leather gloves on...plus plate mail seems to be cumbersome and noisy...a druid might have trouble picking a pocket with a bear paw or cat paw...and lack of opposable thumbs would be a problem. mages wear cloth sure...but lack the agility to pick a pocket...maybe something using their mind would work...priests would concentrate too much on little boys, and warlocks would have their silly minion following them everywhere and would cause a ruccuss with their loud comments they always say...so im guessing a rogue is best suited for the job

Thinking along the same lines as the OP....I agree....I wish we could have a little more "diverse" class system. Yea, blizz did an excellent job by allowing players to choose talent builds....but I want to see subclasses like:

Merchant - have chests that they can put their crap in and other players can look in them and buy the items...
Shipman - no idea...but something to do with usage of a boat...
Thief - same as op
etc.
