Its a fun game, its more challenging than Diablo. If you play regularly I would say you get alot for your money. Easy to learn, but somethings, like PvP maybe, or some instances, will take a while to be good at.

Try the free trial?

I think WoW is a great game. I don't regret buying it or anything. Compared to other MMOs I tried, WoW is incredibly easy to learn. Blizzard says "easy to learn, hard to master", and I think it does fit the game.

You may think of WoW as Diablo II without having to create/join games, but with tons of quests and more role-playing options (professions, etc.). The environement is not static like in D2, and the game focuses more on killing fewer enemies. You won't run around the place spamming frozen orbs or multishots and killing everyone in your path.

The only downside I see is the monthly fee. But hey, they do update the game quite often.

it's this large environment with lots of peoples in and you pewpew them until they QQ and then they go to the forums and QQ some more.

anyway, ok for a serious answer:

You don't make games, it is one continuous game with no ending; no winners, no losers. It is the world of Azeroth. You create a character and that character is then loaded into the game. As you progress your character will level up and you will get gear upgrades and new abilities. Your character will always remain on the server until you delete it so you can always go back to where you left off.

Its definitely worth it if you consider the amount of time you can play. $15 a month for something is so little in comparison to say buying a new game once a month for $40 because you've finished the last one and are bored with it now...

Just try to exercise moderation while playing.

Have you tried looking here (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/beginners/index.html) and onwards?

That covers a section of what you're asking about. The rest is personal opinion stuff and that may vary due to personal preferences.
