Questions about traveling

Im playing a human mage, she`s lvl 21 atm and a quest sends me to Stonetalon, which is in kalimdor as far as I know, and I have no idea how to get there. Do I have to use a flightpath or what? Also if I go to Horde territory, will I be atacked by every guard just because im part of the alliance(im on an rpg realm, no pvp whatsoever)?

And how do mounts work? Do you travel faster by horse, and can you unmount it anytime you wish and go where you wish with it, or does it send you to an exact location like griffins do? :ponder:

There is a cave that goes to Stonetalon Mtns from Ashenvale. You can avoid the Barrens if you wish. Or you can just hug the right all the way through it and zone in that way.

Mounts let you move faster, you can mount/unmouth wherever you wish.

ael, as human mage I'm assuming you've been to Stormwind. Ok, in the SW dwarf sector there is a swirly portal, go in and that's the Tram. Wait for it to come, hop on, and it will take you to Ironforge. Once in IF you will be in the gnome sector there. Make your way to the center of the city and there is a flight path you can grab there. Exit on the bottom of the map into Dun Morgoth. Go east and follow the south pass into Loch Modan.

Once in Loch Modan head north to Thelasamar and grab the flight path there. Keep following the road north into caves and follow the path down into Wetlands. Once in Wetlands, follow the road north and then as it curves west, to Menethil Harbor. Grab the Flight path there. There is 2 docks. Go first to the left one, wait for boat, hop on, it will take you to Theramore in Duskwallow Marsh. Grab the flight path there, then go back to the boat to Menethil. Now back in Menethil, go on the right dock and take the boat to Auberdine in Darkshore. Grab the Flight path there.

Now go back to the docks and take the other boat that docks there over to Ruth'Aran village on Telldrassil and grab the flight path there. You can also go in the red portal thing to get to the Night Elf capital city. Ok, back to Darkshore. Follow the road from Auberdine south into Ashenvale. Follow signs for Astranaar. Get the flight path there. From Astranaar keep folowing the road for a bit, but when it curves go south instead, eventualy you'll happen upon a cave that will take you into Stonetalon Mountains. From there you want to make your way first northwest then later northeast, and this will take you to Stonetalon Peak, where there is another flightpath for you.

Now go back south and exit into the Barrens (just run past the Horde NPC guards, you should be fine if you don't stop to dawdle). Make your way to the coast, avoiding the Crossroads town. Follow signs for Ratchet. Grab the flight path in Ratchet. Wait for the boat. The boat takes you to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale in the Eastern Kingdoms. Get the flight path. You can fly to Stormwind from here. You now have flight paths for most of the next 20 levels or so of possible Kalimdor adventures.

Also, if you want, go back to Wetlands, and cross the bridge in the norht middle of the map into Arathi Highlands. In the middle of the map is Refuge Point where you can grab a flight path. Keep following the road north and then signs for Southshore in Hillsbrad. Another flight path there. That should be all your Loerdaron flight paths that you have any business being in for the next 20 levels.

If you are also asking how to get over to Kalimdor itself, head to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands and take the boat there over to Darkshore. From there just head south and you'll be in Ashenvale which xmuskrat has already covered.

Also, you don't really need to worry about the guards unless you try and enter a Horde town. Just watch out for the patrols which are in some zones. Don't think there are are any in Stonetalon though, so you should be fine.

You can also ask a mage to port you to either SW, IF or Darn when needed.
