Hey,
Just like everyone else, I really want to get a mount when I'm lvl40. But the only problem is that it doesn't look like I'll get enough money by the time I'm lvl40. Can anyone give me any tips on how to gain money?
For a few days, I've just been killing a lvl36 mob (so they're easy to kill) which nearly always gives Heavy Leather, then I sell the leather in stacks of 20 at the Auction House. But I don't think that'll get me enough money by the time I can get a mount- I'm only a few kills away from 39. Just so you know what I can do, I'm 36/75 leatherworking (yes, I know it sucks), 282/300 skinning, and I've already got 56g,76s.
Can anyone give me some tips please?
(I'm on here cause stupid wow-europe.com won't let me log in.)

I usually dance as a female night elf next to a bank or mailbox for tips.

SELL EVERYTHING! (pick up everything from mob)
Greys to vendor .. White to auction house!

Kabourne - I'd strongly recommend you drop LWing (you can get back to 36 LW in LITERALLY 15-20 minutes) and pick up mining, and go on a skinning and mining-fest. Mining is highly profitable on almost all servers. Be smart about what you sell. You can usually get a better price for ore than for bars, for example, because people can get skill from smelting ore, and because some people just can't do math and work out that it's costing them more to buy the ore than bars would. So look at the AH, see what the prices are like for ore and bars, and price your ore literally 1s cheaper than the next lot of ore. If there's no ore up, place stacks of 10 ore on the AH for 60% of the price of a stack of 20 bars.
Another cheap way to make money is to go and buy white recipes from vendors who sell tradeskill recipes, especially ones which have "limited availability", and put them on the AH for an inflated price (if you're Alliance, going to Stromgarde and buying the books for 150+ First Aid, Mageweave Bandages and the like and then flogging them on AH is often a good idea, unless someone is doing it constantly). Don't go crazy, but you can make some pretty bonkers profit %s on these items if you're careful.
One thing you can do is to look on the AH for items that are priced "wrong", i.e. exceptionally low, and buy them, then sell them at the "standard price" or near to it. In particular, look for items with no buy, just a bid on them, where someone has just slung an item on the AH and not double-checked it's price or put a buyout in, just accepted the recommended minimum. Don't be afraid to get in bidding wars a bit, so long as you stay well below the "standard price". You'll lose some, but you'll win others.
The best advice, though sadly too late for you, is to avoid spending money on small upgrades, and to price any BoE greens and cloth (never beat the lowest price unless it's very low, people always need cloth, especially wool because they level past the mobs that drop it so fast, and you can price in the middle or sometimes even on the high end and still sell it) you find very aggressively. Doing that can easily make your mount money for you, going from level 1-40.
Amgyn is right, too, sell everything.

Drop leatherworking, pick up mining.
Go to duskwood, the worgen cave neark darkshire.
THere you will find lots of mobs to kill, that are all skinnable. Also there are chest spawns, and several ore that you can mine.
You can make 40 g here without any trouble and level up at the same time.

I wholeheartedly approve of this suggestion!
Make sure you have big bags :)
Also if people come who seem to doing the quest to kill X and Y of those mobs, let them do and stay out of their way, they'll leave quickly enough.
i just farm the AH... it works at lvl 5-60

Yes, but he's trying to make 40 gold, not 400. He can do this tonight, in a very short time frame and level up to get the mount.
If post 40 he wants to grind the money for epic mount then AH grinding is the way to go!
