After having taken a break from Wow I have been wondering whether to come back in WoW or not , now that BC is around the corner.

Problem is that I just can't figure out what class to play. I have played rogue and hunter and would like to try something else.Hunter got a little boring and would prefer something less sneaky class than rogue ( and not to rely on long cooldowns :) )I'm looking for class that performs well in pve/pvp without having to collect tons of sets of gear for these parts of the game. That was one of the reasons why I chose rogue and hunter: you only needed roughly one set of gear to be great in pve/pvp/sologrinding and I would expect that from the new class too and preferably do damage in melee.

These hybrid classes(druid , shaman , paladin ) interest me particularly but the problem is that , according to what I have read and heard, they are most of times expected to spec into healing tree and when you collect gear and spec for that tree , you are almost totally gimped in pvp and solo grinding. This doesn't mean that I don't like healing , I just want my damage to be upgraded as I get better gear (and damage is important in pvp / sologrind ). It seems that only 4 classes are capable of doing this and they just happen to be the dps-classes :wink3: : hunter , rogue , mage and warlock.

But what do you think , it is possible to play , for example , Enhancement shaman and collect roughly one set of gear(apart from resistance gear) which you can use in pve/pvp/grinding and be accepted into raids ?

Or are mage and warlock are my only possible choices ? They come the closest to what I'm looking for but I would have been nice to have a melee based class

I know this may sound like insignificant detail but it's big part of what I like(d) in wow.

Thanks in advance

You are correct about the healing classes. Chances are you will be expected to heal come end game. I played a feral druid to 60, and loved it, but in instances I’m expected to heal. *shrugs* I’m sure there are those out there who do not heal, or at least get the option, but as a rule of thumb if you can heal most people expect you to do so.

If you enjoy playing a caster, both mages and warlocks can be deadly and a lot of fun to play. I watched an ice mage duel the other day and my jaw dropped open. She was very good. But if you prefer the more up in your face kind of combat you might consider playing a warrior. They are more gear dependent, as in you need to keep up with your gear, but they can be deadly and a lot of fun to play.

Edit:
Leaving out one word really can make a difference.

What motivates you to come back? Lack of other things to do? Or, things in the game that have changed to interest you? If the former, you are coming back for the wrong reasons...heh

The lack of time made me quit wow back then as playing wow took a lot of time away from studying in school.I enjoyed wow, but I value studying over playing wow . Now studies have eased and I have time to play again and I really doesn't have anything else to do.There are lots of interesting stuff coming in BC too.

and I'm still considering :ponder:
