My guild has been telling me to get a guild bank and i read the addon and tbh i think i read it wrong does this allow the guild to take things freely from the bank?

No ... a guild bank is basically an alt toon where you store things that can be used for the good of the guild at a later date... whether that be materials for crafting, gold, gear ect.
In my experience though people don't really understand the guild bank... and they think that they'll just get free stuff, mount money or the like without actually contributing. I guess it's good to get one started just so you can familiarize people with the concept but it's really not that important until you start doing organized guild runs especially raiding. At that point you might start accumulating BoE set pieces that no one on the run can use and then someone else can gain access to them through the guild bank... or in raiding you will need to have people donate materials such as herbs, metal etc... for potions and gear such as Fire Resist stuff for MC so that when you go on a raid you don't have to provide those things for yourself... which would be costly if you weren't farming the mats and crafting them on your own.

I had the add-on you are talking about (or one similar) for a while and I never fully understood it either. It always wanted me to hit update when I opened my bank though. The main part my guild wanted was to have my gear and proffessions/patterns updated on the website so they could see which person of each class needed stuff more and who could make what etc.
I never hit update on my bank so I don't know if that would allow them to see what I have stored in there or not .... They did catch one of the players by surprise by asking him to turn over a fiery core (he had bought it on AH but they thought he picked it up on an MC run without being seen) so I think it allows them to track at least certain items in your bank if you update it.
I would hate that kind of invasion of privacy so I hope maybe he just mentioned to someone that he had a core but not that he bought it and they narked on him ... although that is wrong in and of itself ... It may just be pixels but it still wouldn't be right in my opinion for a guild to be able to demand mats from your bank. If I want to collect 20 cured rugged hides then that is my business, I spent 60 days making them and no, I am not obligated to cough them up. I will offer things or just mail things to the bank to help out but I don't like being obligated to do so beyond what they set for all guild members.
I was in a raiding guild briefly and they wanted us to run instances and give 100% of the BOE loot to them, they even demanded a BOE purp that I won in a non guild run. That is when I decided to leave. I never gained anything but I sure put in a lot while class leaders got all thier tier 2 and I was in mixed greens and blues.
A normal guild bank for the benefit of the guild is one thing. Sending a reasonable amount of materials for pots, armors etc is fine as long as everyone is contributing but I still don't think anyone needs to poke through my bank inventory.

Ooooooh... I guess I misunderstood what you were asking. I think that would be an automatic /gquit for me.
What does it matter what you have in your inventory? Just because you are a member of a guild doesn't mean the guild owns you. And demanding a BoE that you got on a non guild run? That's ridiculous. That sounds like a guild that basically will result in the senior officers running off with the proceeds from your loot.

pretty much. guild run raid boes are one thing, demanding you send in boes from 5 mans? and not even with the guild? LOL
