View Full Version : Where do you put shadowpriests in raids?

I (in shadowform) do dps on trash in MC when we have enough healers. Sometimes I'm in group with 4 locks (2 more locks go in the mainly tank groups for the imp buff (2 groups of 2-3 tanks each with lock and a shammy ). If the locks remember to tap, then the VE heals, but often they don't and it's just overheal and trash just goes down so fast anyway they don't have to tap (heh we are only going to start the lavapacks this weekend so.. I'm sure the rest of MC will be a lot harder than so far up to Garr ).

So I suggested putting me in with tanks so my VE will heal them, otherwise I feel like I'm wasting a debuff slot.

If your guild takes shadowpriests where to you put them? Which groups?

I'd go with the warlock group, just remind them to tap a bit more often.

For raggy we allways stick a shadow priest in the warlock group so they can DPS all fight.

We have so few Warlocks on our raids that I didn't even think of putting them in a Warlock group. Usually we have 2-4 Warlocks, max, in a 40-man and 2 of them are in Tank groups for the Imp buff. 1-2 Warlocks max in a 20-man (often 0). Yeah, Warlocks are our low-population class; we've DE'd a lot of Felheart and Nemesis.

I don't have much knowledge of where our Shadow Priest gets thrown in 40-mans as I don't lead our 40-man raids. In our 20-mans, though, we typically throw the Shadow Priest in a group with melee DPS (Rogues, Warriors not tanking, and feral Druids).

Why 4 locks in one group? wouldnt the raid be better off with a lock in each group for the imp buff? i would put a SP in the MT group for the VE so the MT healers dont have to use so much mana.

We just have 1 lock in the MT group then the rest of the locks are free to use what ever pet they want.

I quite often use a sacrificed Voidwalker just so I can have an endless flow of health/mana, with a shadow priest in the group channeling me health I'd probably sack a Succy for some extra damage

We tend to put him in the Rogue group. With judgement and the Heroism card that effectively means you can pretty much forget about them and they'll stay topped up.

We prefer having the locks spread out for the imp bonus, otherwise that'd be a valid spot as well.

We often put the SP with rogues. They have to bandage a lot anyway during most bossfights, so some VE love helps a lot.

Yea I have to echo the Rogue group is where our Shadowpriest goes. With VE they can be pretty much ignored by the other healers. This allows them to constantly DPS and not have to stop to bandage or what not.

As a shadow priest, I hung with the rogues. They LOVED me, I mean absolutely, the first fight they notice their SCT getting lit up with those VE ticks, I have a new friend :-)

Ya I usually get tossed in the with the rogues/dps classes such as hunters and mages that should only be taking occasional damage. Though I imagine with BC that will probably change with VT and so forth.

We put them just outside the zone in, on standby incase a healer who's specced to raid drops out ;)

If we did use a shadow priest i think a lock group would be the way to go, there isnt really room in a rogue group, what with hunter(tsa) and warrior(bshout) plus a healer already in there.

When I'm in Shadow I go in the MT group with 1 lock, the main healer, and a Paladin.

We have our Paladins in melee range to keep up judgements in between healing. Between DPSing, judging, sealing, and healing they have a lot to do. Putting them with the shadowpriest lets them not worry about healing themself.
